Effect of digitonin on membrane-bound and chitosomal chitin synthetase activity in protoplasts from yeast cells ofCandida albicans
1993
The effect of digitonin on chitin synthetase present in membrane (MMF) and cytoplasmic fractions (chitosomes) (CF) from C. albicans yeast protoplasts has been determined. The zymogen is preferentially, but not exclusively, solubilized by digitonin from MMF. Centrifugation of distinct solubilized preparations, containing either zymogen, in vivo active enzyme and/or trypsin activated enzyme, on linear sucrose gradients suggests that both zymogen and trypsin activated enzyme sediment slightly slower than the active enzyme, pointing out differences between the activation processes in vivo and in vitro or, alternatively, that both enzyme activities (active in vivo and zymogenic) correspond to di…
A magnetostrictive generator for sensors network
2017
In this paper we present a vibration harvesting electric power generator based on magnetostrictive effect for sensors network in hazardous area and we validate it experimentally. The generator has been designed by using Dynamic Preisach hysteresis Model (DPM). DPM is a development of classical Preisach Model which is able to include dynamical features in the mathematical model of hysteresis. We measure the output power capability of the generator and we estimate its power density generation capability.
The Large Hadron–Electron Collider at the HL-LHC
2021
The Large Hadron-Electron Collider (LHeC) is designed to move the field of deep inelastic scattering (DIS) to the energy and intensity frontier of particle physics. Exploiting energy-recovery technology, it collides a novel, intense electron beam with a proton or ion beam from the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). The accelerator and interaction region are designed for concurrent electron-proton and proton-proton operations. This report represents an update to the LHeC's conceptual design report (CDR), published in 2012. It comprises new results on the parton structure of the proton and heavier nuclei, QCD dynamics, and electroweak and top-quark physics. It is shown how the LH…
Epigenetic mechanisms behind phenotypic changes in different population densities in bank voles (Myodes glareolus)
2017
DNA-metylaatio on eniten tutkittu epigeneettinen mekanismi jolla on tärkeä rooli geenien säätelyssä normaalin solujen kehityksen aikana. Metylaatio ilmenee tyypillisesti CpG-dinukleotideissa, joissa metyyliryhmä kiinnittyy 5’-sytosiiniin (C) jota seuraava emäs on guaniini (G). Tämä voi estää näihin CpG-paikkoihin liittyvien geenien ilm…
The Attentional Demand of Automobile Driving Revisited: Occlusion Distance as a Function of Task- Relevant Event Density in Realistic Driving Scenari…
2016
Objective: We studied the utility of occlusion distance as a function of task-relevant event density in realistic traffic scenarios with self-controlled speed. Background: The visual occlusion technique is an established method for assessing visual demands of driving. However, occlusion time is not a highly informative measure of environmental task-relevant event density in self-paced driving scenarios because it partials out the effects of changes in driving speed. Method: Self-determined occlusion times and distances of 97 drivers with varying backgrounds were analyzed in driving scenarios simulating real Finnish suburban and highway traffic environments with self-determined vehicle speed…
K-kertaisesti kiellettyjen uniikkien β-siirtymien faasiavaruusintegraalit
2018
Camera trapping the European wildcat (Felis silvestris silvestris) in Sicily (Southern Italy): preliminary results
2009
The wildcat is an elusive species that is threatened with extinction in many parts of its range. In Sicily it still lives in a wide range of habitats. During 2006, camera traps were used to investigate the distribution of the wildcat over a 660 ha wide area on the south-western slope of Mount Etna (NE Sicily). Twelve out of 18 trapping stations provided a total of 24 photographs. Nine different individuals were identified using morphological criteria. Our work confirms the suitability of camera trapping for monitoring elusive carnivores.
Design and Assessment of Optimized EMI Filters for Avionic Applications
2018
This paper presents a procedure to design EMI filters to reduce the electromagnetic disturbances generated by electrical apparatus used in avionic environment. The method proposed can be useful to save weight and size of the attenuation systems, and keep their effectiveness in agreement with the standard requirements. A design of a set of different filters with different topological characteristics is presented for a case study about an electrical actuator used for an aircraft onboard application. Performances and reliabilities of the attenuation systems are assessed by suitable full compliance experimental tests.
L'évolution de l'occupation humaine : l'analyse spatiale exploratoire des données.Le problème de l'incertitude et de l'hétérogénéité des données en a…
2011
The analysis of the evolution of the settlement requires a lot of methodological questioning. Despite a frequent use of the spatial analysis methods, few works return to their methodological problems. This article proposes to make a comparison and a discussion around two exploratory statistical methods (the K function of Ripley and the Kernel Density Estimation). It seems that scale, quality and quantity of input data, are three essential parameters to be taken into account so as to lead a spatial analysis in archaeology. In intrinsic way, archaeological data are non homogeneous. For that purpose, our article proposes a multi scalar approach integrating the non homogeneousness character of …
