Sin embargo, en España destaca la falta de habilitación pública de enclaves que tuvieron una importancia significativa durante la última guerra civil española (1936-1939). Este artículo examina actividades de libros de texto de Historia, tomando como muestra las relacionadas con la Península ibérica entre la Prehistoria y la Edad Media, en manuales actuales de 1º y 2º curso de ESO de las editoriales españolas de mayor difusión en el ámbito valenciano. Se pretende cuestionar si el tratamiento de las competencias educativas básicas ha enriquecido o no el planteamiento didáctico de los manuales: si se presentan actividades con recursos textuales y visuales que mejoran las destrezas cognitivas del alumnado. The essay takes into examination the technique by which words drawn from glossaries or other kinds of lexicographic compilations were embedded in both prose and verse and went to build a lexical continuum. The definition I propose for such a technique is ‘contextualized lexicography’. It dates from late antiquity, if not earlier, but it was in a number of works composed in the Middle Ages and circulating in the British Isles that it became the governing principle of composition. Evaluating the Effectiveness of Modelling-Oriented Workshops for Engineering Undergraduates in the Field of Thermally Activated Phenomena

Two 20-h modelling-based workshops focused on the explanation of ther- mally activated phenomena were held at the University of Palermo, Italy, during the Academic Year 2014–2015. One of them was conducted by applying an inquiry-based approach, while the other, still based on laboratory and modelling activities, was not focused on inquiry. Seventy-two students belonging to the Undergraduate Program for Chemical Engineering attended the two workshops. Mediated action in teachers’ discussions about mathematics tasks

Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11858-012-0423-0 This paper presents analyses of teachers’ discussions within mathematics teaching developmental research projects, taking mediation as the central construct. The relations in the so-called ‘didactic triangle’ form the basic framework for the analysis of two episodes in which upper secondary school teachers discuss and prepare tasks for classroom use. The analysis leads to the suggestion that the focus on tasks places an emphasis on the task as object and its resolution as goal; mathematics has the role of a mediating artefact.
