Principal component analysis on molecular descriptors as an alternative point of view in the search of new Hsp90 inhibitors

2009

Inhibiting a protein that regulates multiple signal transduction pathways in cancer cells is an attractive goal for cancer therapy. Heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) is one of the most promising molecular targets for such an approach. In fact, Hsp90 is a ubiquitous molecular chaperone protein that is involved in folding, activating and assembling of many key mediators of signal transduction, cellular growth, differentiation, stress-response and apoptothic pathways. With the aim to analyze which molecular descriptors have the higher importance in the binding interactions of these classes, we first performed molecular docking experiments on the 187 Hsp90 inhibitors included in the BindingDB, a pu…

Red emitting [Ir(C^N)2(N^N)]+ complexes employing bidentate 2,2':6,2''-terpyridine ligands for light-emitting electrochemical cells

2014

2,2':6',2''-Terpyridine (tpy), 4'-(4-HOC6H4)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (1), 4'-(4-MeOC6H4)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (2), 4'-(4-MeSC6H4)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (3), 4'-(4-H2NC6H4)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (4) and 4'-(4-pyridyl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (4) act as N^N chelates in complexes of the type [Ir(C^N)2(N^N)][PF6] in which the cyclometallating ligand, C^N, is derived from 2-phenylpyridine (Hppy) or 3,5-dimethyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazole (Hdmppz). The single crystal structures of eight complexes have been determined, and in each iridium(III) complex cation, the non-coordinated pyridine ring of the tpy unit is involved in a face-to-face π-stacking interaction with the cyclometallated ring of an …

Trimethylplatinum(IV) complexes with ON bidentate ligands

1972

Abstract Complexes of the trimethylplatinum(IV) moiety with bidentate monobasic salicylaldimines C 6 H 5 (OH)CHNR (R = ethyl, propyl, phenyl) have been prepared and characterized by IR, UV and NMR spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The complexes are dimeric with double PtOPt bridges, and the metal appears to be pseudo-octahedrally hexacoordinated.

X-ray diffraction, optical birefringence, and87Rb nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy of the paraelectric and antiferroelectric phases of Rb3DxH1…

2002

The antiferroelectric (AFE) phase transition of Rb3DxH1-x(SO4)2 was studied using x-ray diffraction, optical birefringence, and nuclear magnetic resonance. The orientation dependence of the resonance lines deduced from the quadrupole-perturbed 87Rb nuclear magnetic resonance of Rb3D(SO4)2 single crystals indicates slight deviations from the monoclinic symmetry in the paraelectric and the AFE phases. The dynamical critical exponents as deduced from measurements of the spin-lattice relaxation times depend on the deuteron concentration. Additionally, we have carried out x-ray single-crystal diffraction as well as optical birefringence measurements and find clear evidence for a structural phase…

Insights into the compositional evolution of crustal magmatic systems from coupled petrological-geodynamical models

2020

Funding was provided by the VAMOS Research Center, University of Mainz (Germany) and by the ERC Consolidator Grant MAGMA (project #771143). The evolution of crustal magmatic systems is incompletely understood, as most studies are limited either by their temporal or spatial resolution. Exposed plutonic rocks represent the final stage of a long-term evolution punctuated by several magmatic events with different chemistry and generated under different mechanical conditions. Although the final state can be easily described, the nature of each magmatic pulse is more difficult to retrieve. This study presents a new method to investigate the compositional evolution of plutonic systems while consid…

Locality of order-invariant first-order formulas

1998

A query is local if the decision of whether a tuple in a structure satisfies this query only depends on a small neighborhood of the tuple. We prove that all queries expressible by order-invariant first-order formulas are local.

Collaborative Assessment of Information Provider's Reliability and Expertise Using Subjective Logic

2011

QA each user can individually estimate the expertise and the reliability of her peers using her direct interactions with them and our framework. The online SN (OSN), which can be considered as a distributed database, performs continuous data aggregation for users expertise and reliability assessment in order to reach a consensus. We emulate a Q&A SN to examine various performance aspects of our algorithm (e.g., convergence time, responsiveness etc.). Our evaluations indicate that it can accurately assess the reliability and the expertise of a user with a small number of samples and can successfully react to the latter's behavior change, provided that the cognitive traits hold in practice.

Object Clustering Methods and a Query Decomposition Strategy for Distributed Object-Based Information Systems

1999

Emerging developments and advances in distributed processing have created a need for tools and methods to partition and distribute information systems across interconnected processors. In particular, distribution approaches which take into account the key characteristics of OO concepts are required to extend traditional fragmentation results to object oriented database systems. To fulfill the above requirements, we propose a methodology for the distribution design of object-based information systems. The underlying approach consists of techniques and heuristics that can be used to create clusters of inter-related object classes that can be fragmented interdependently, producing distribution…

Accelerating data queries on Hadoop framework by using compact data formats

2016

There are massive amounts of data generated from IoT, online transactions, click streams, emails, logs, posts, social networking interactions, sensors, mobile phones and their applications etc. The question is where and how to store these data in order to provide faster data access. Understanding and handling Big Data is a big challenge. The research direction in Big Data projects using Hadoop Technology, MapReduce kind of framework and compact data formats such as RCFile, SequenceFile, ORC, Avro, Parquet shows that only two data formats (Avro and Parquet) support schema evolution and compression in order to utilize less storage space. In this paper, file formats like Avro and Parquet are c…

Infiniviz: Taking Quake 3 Arena on a Large-Scale Display System to the Next Level

2018

The authors of this paper have previously presented a large-scale display system called Infiniviz in other publications. Infiniviz attempts to improve network bandwidth consumption and computational performance compared to other existing large-scale display systems. Since the previous publications have been made in early development stages of Infiniviz, only the overview of the software architecture and details of hardware implementation have been presented so far. This paper contains a real-life test of Infiniviz running Quake 3 Arena at a resolution of 9600 x 5400 at 24 fps. Also, in this paper, the authors have tried to match their results to what has been published by other researchers …
