The goal is to increase knowledge about different research methods that have been employed in the information technology field by supporting the information exchange, collaboration, and cooperation between researchers. Well-designed, well-told stories can help others learn from past situations to respond more effectively in future situation. A blog is presented where PhD students and researchers are invited to collaborate by providing their stories, reading and commenting existing stories. This infrastructure allows researchers and PhD students to write the contents posing questions and finding answers on the relationship between research process and research results.

Experimental evidence for a local disorder in pure and doped perovskites

Abstract In the soft mode picture, the ferroelectric phase transitions in most of ABO3 perovskites are triggered by the long wavelength oscillations of the B ions against their oxygen cage. There is now a lot of experimental evidence that this picture is incomplete. An extra contribution has to be included in the dynamical response. This contribution is usually thought to arise from local lattice distorsions; this is what will be called local disorder. Proton conducting polymer composites for electrochromic devices

Abstract This report describes composite proton electrolytes composed of nanosize zirconium phosphate or antimonic acid particles suspended in a poly(vinyl acetate)/glycerin gel matrix. The proton conductivity was 10 −3 –10 −4 S/cm at room temperature, thermal stability prevailed up to at least 110°C, and compatibility was found with oxide electrodes; these properties makes the electrolyte suitable for use in solid state electrochemical devices. <title>Proton conducting polymer electrolytes for electrochromic devices</title>

This report concerns a composite proton electrolyte suitable for use in electrochromic devices. The electrolyte consists of nanosize hydrated oxide (aluminum, silicon or antimonic) particles suspended in a poly(vinyl acetate) matrix. All of the water was strongly bonded, thus making the electrolytes less harmful without considerably decreasing the conductivity. The proton conductivity of the electrolyte was approximately 10-4 S/cm at room temperature, practically independent of its amount of absorbed water.© (1997) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering. CZT-Based Harmonic Analysis in Smart Grid Using Low-Cost Electronic Measurement Boards

This paper validates the use of a harmonic analysis algorithm on a microcontroller to perform measurements of non-stationary signals in the context of smart grids. The increasing presence of electronic devices such as inverters of distributed generators (DG), power converters of charging stations for electric vehicles, etc. can drain non-stationary currents during their operation. A classical fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm may not have sufficient spectral resolution for the evaluation of harmonics and inter-harmonics. Oral health counselling in changing schoolchildren's oral hygiene habits: a qualitative study.

Abstract –  Objective:  This study explored oral health counselling concerning changes of oral hygiene habits in 11- to 13-year-old schoolchildren within a theoretical framework of the transtheoretical model and the motivational interview. Methods:  The follow-up data (2002–2003) formed two sequential parts: the first part comprised 66 counselling sessions in 2002; the second part included 31 counselling sessions in 2003. Thirty-one (n = 31) schoolchildren were included in the counselling sessions that were conducted by four dental hygienists. Assessment of tobacco dependence curricula in Italian dental hygiene schools

The aim of this study was to assess the level of tobacco dependence education offered by Italian dental hygiene programs. A fifty-question survey was mailed to the thirty-one active public and private dental hygiene programs in Italy during the 2008-09 academic year. The survey assessed faculty confidence in teaching tobacco treatment, which courses contained tobacco dependence content, the number of minutes spent on specific content areas, and the level of clinical competence that dental hygiene graduates should be able to demonstrate.
