Endovascular Embolization of a Large High-Flow Splenic Arteriovenous Fistula and Aneurysm Using the Amplatzer Vascular Plug II.

We describe the use of an Amplatzer Vascular Plug (AVP) II for embolizing a large high-flow splenic arteriovenous fistula and an aneurysm in a young patient. This patient presented to our center with persistent mild abdominal discomfort, 5 years after open splenectomy. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography angiography showed the presence of a fistula between the splenic arterial and splenic venous remnants and a resultant fusiform aneurysmal dilatation of the residual splenic vein. We decide to embolize the splenic artery with a 12-mm diameter AVP II with an oversizing by 70% of the vessel diameter. Quantifying stenosis in renal arteriograms: a fuzzy syntactic analysis.

AbstractThe introduction of fuzzy logic improves a system for the automatic quantification of renal artery lesions seen in digital subtraction angiograms. A two-step approach has been followed. An earlier system based on non-fuzzy syntactic analysis provided a clear symbolic description of the stenotic lesions. Although this system worked correctly, it did not take into account the variability and uncertainty inherent to image processing and to knowledge on the reference diameter. Prolonged Cerebral Circulation Time Is the Best Parameter for Predicting Vasospasm during Initial CT Perfusion in Subarachnoid Hemorrhagic Patients

Purpose We sought to imitate angiographic cerebral circulation time (CCT) and create a similar index from baseline CT perfusion (CTP) to better predict vasospasm in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Methods Forty-one SAH patients with available DSA and CTP were retrospectively included. Extrathoracic Arteriosclerotic Vascular Changes Preclude the Use of the Internal Thoracic Artery for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

During a two-years period we have treated 6 patients where use of the internal thoracic artery for coronary artery grafting was precluded because of extrathoracic arteriosclerotic vascular lesions. In four patients with severe aorto-iliac occlusive disease preoperative digital angiography demonstrated collateralisation of the lower extremity by either the left, right, or both internal thoracic arteries (ITA). CT angiography versus intraarterial digital subtraction angiography for assessment of aortoiliac occlusive disease.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of CT angiography (CTA) with a single helical acquisition for assessment of stenoses and occlusions of the iliac arteries.In our prospective study, intraarterial digital subtraction angiography and IV CTA were performed from the suprarenal aorta to below the femoral bifurcation in 30 patients with vascular occlusive disease. Maximum-intensity-projection images in multiple views were also obtained.
