The aim of the study was to validate a novel digital measurement method to quantify the volume of the midpalatal suture after rapid maxillary expansion (RME). Material and methods: Eight patients with maxillary skeletal transverse deficiency were submitted to palatine suture expansion using the McNamara orthodontic appliance during a period of nine months. After 30 days of treatment, all patients were exposed postoperatively to a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan. For painful, dysfunctional, posttraumatic metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints, the free vascularized toe joint transfer may represent a good solution. Successful reconstruction is potentially limited, however, by 2 features of the traditional vascularized metatarsophalangeal (MTP) transfer: inadequate arc of flexion and insufficient soft tissue coverage. The solution to both of these dilemmas lies in the manner of utilizing the donor site. L’incisione di Giovanni Battista Sintes, recante l’intestazione “Ornato della facciata del Collegio di Palermo de Padri della Compagnia di Gesù in occasione di acclamare al possesso preso della Sicilia dalla S. M. C. e Cattolica di Carlo VI Imperatore l’anno 1720”, raffigura l’apparato effimero realizzato sulla facciata del Collegio dei Gesuiti di Palermo. Il saggio presenta la ricostruzione virtuale, che ipotizza una possibile configurazione della facciata con l’ornato, effettuata attraverso l’analisi e il ridisegno bidimensionale e tridimensionale dell’incisione e la lettura della descrizione degli apparati fatta da Padre Domenico Turano.

Translingual retrieval relies on processing a source language to retrieve digital document content in a target language. From the perspective of successful browsing digital catalogues, probability of retrieving the full text document in a language other than the query language is close to zero owning to the fact that it is not only the library collection, but especially a problem of matching the index terms with the query keywords which are assumed to be their translation equivalents.
