The corticotrophin-releasing factor/urocortin system regulates white fat browning in mice through paracrine mechanisms.

2015

Objectives:\ud The corticotrophin-releasing factor (CRF)/urocortin system is expressed in the adipose tissue of mammals, but its functional role in this tissue remains unknown.\ud \ud Methods:\ud Pharmacological manipulation of the activity of CRF receptors, CRF1 and CRF2, was performed in 3T3L1 white pre-adipocytes and T37i brown pre-adipocytes during in vitro differentiation. The expression of genes of the CRF/urocortin system and of markers of white and brown adipocytes was evaluated along with mitochondrial biogenesis and cellular oxygen consumption. Metabolic evaluation of corticosterone-deficient or supplemented Crhr1-null (Crhr1−/−) mice and their wild-type controls was performed alo…

Current caselaw discrepancies in the protection of national symbols and state representatives between the European Court of Human Rights and Spanish …

2021

Despite the general consensus about freedom of expression being a basic fundamental right on every democratic society, the debate about its boundaries has never found such a pacific agreement. Thus, the Spanish Penal Code has several articles that punish its abuse that are highly contested, like articles 490.3 and 543 that penalize the offenses directed towards national symbols or State representatives. This being so, this article examines the controversy generated by the application of this articles through the analysis of two judgements issued by the European Court of Human Rights against Spain, and a third one issued by the Spanish Constitutional Court that could follow the same path. Th…

Web crawling dla celów lingwistycznych. Wybrane aspekty gromadzenia i analizy danych tekstowych na przykładzie rosyjskojęzycznych newsów internetowych

2021

WRKY gene family drives dormancy release in onion bulbs

2022

Onion (Allium cepa L.) is an important bulb crop grown worldwide. Dormancy in bulbous plants is an important physiological state mainly regulated by a complex gene network that determines a stop of vegetative growth during unfavorable seasons. Limited knowledge on the molecular mechanisms that regulate dormancy in onion were available until now. Here, a comparison between uninfected and onion yellow dwarf virus (OYDV)-infected onion bulbs highlighted an altered dormancy in the virus-infected plants, causing several symptoms, such as leaf striping, growth reduction, early bulb sprouting and rooting, as well as a lower abscisic acid (ABA) level at the start of dormancy. Furthermore, by compar…

2020

Positive thinking constitutes one of the great traditions that lead to the idea of the subject as an entrepreneur of himself and is perhaps one of the best that has successfully condensed cultural, political, social and pedagogical processes linked to reflection on well-being in this historical time. The teaching work is especially moved by the pregnancy of these perspectives that challenge the pedagogical field and the education workers as ?agents of change, or at least one more school available to give the discussion on well-being and happiness (yours and the students?) is celebrated and encouraged. Context as a Provider of Key Resources for Succession: A Case Study of Sustainable Family Firms

2019

[EN] Although succession is the single most important issue in family-owned businesses (FOBs), there is scarce comprehensive and integrative analysis of the context (i.e., the social, organizational, and normative setting) where succession events occur. Research usually focuses on the success or failure of succession processes, instead of the risks faced by FOBs during succession. The succession process takes time and multiple actors are involved. Therefore, succession is influenced by uncertainty and unforeseen events. This study addresses the aforementioned gap in the literature by investigating how context can reduce the risk of failure in succession. Based on organizational change theor…
