Modelling genetic regulation of growth and form in a branching sponge

We present a mathematical model of the genetic regulation controlling skeletogenesis and the influence of the physical environment on a branching sponge with accretive growth (e.g.Haliclona oculataorLubomirskia baikalensis). From previous work, it is known that high concentrations of silicate induce spicule formation and upregulate thesilicateingene. Multiplex RT-PCR Expression Analysis of Developmentally Important Genes in Individual Mouse Preimplantation Embryos and Blastomeres1

We have developed a microfluidic chip-based qualitative assay for sensitive (10 RNA copies) detection of multiple transcripts in single cells. We determined the expression patterns of 17 developmentally important genes and isoforms in individual mouse preimplantation embryos from superovulated matings and blastomeres. Genomic response programs of Candida albicans following protoplasting and regeneration

Transcription profiling of Candida albicans cells responding to the elimination of the wall (protoplasts) and posterior regeneration was explored. DNA microarrays were used to measure changes in the expression of 6039 genes, and the upregulated genes during regeneration at 28 degrees C were assigned to fourteen categories. A total of 407 genes were upregulated during the process, of which 144 reached a maximum after 1 h. MKC1, a gene encoding a member of the regulatory pathway involved in cell wall integrity was overexpressed. Time-dependent expression divided the genes into 40 clusters. The function of IAP has long been limited to an inhibition of apoptosis through their capacity to bind some caspases. Since the expression of these proteins is altered in some tumor samples, IAPs are targets for anticancer therapy and many small molecules have been designed for their capacity to inhibit IAP-caspase interaction. Unexpectedly, these molecules appeared to significantly affect NF-κB activation. In this review, we will discuss the central role of cIAP1, cIAP2 and XIAP in the regulation of NF-κB activating signaling pathways.

A new Multi-Layers Method to Analyze Gene Expression

In the paper a new Multi-Layers approach (called Multi-Layers Model MLM) for the analysis of stochastic signals and its application to the analysis of gene expression data is presented. It consists in the generation of sub-samples from the input signal by applying a threshold technique based on cut-set optimal conditions. The MLM has been applied on synthetic and real microarray data for the identification of particular regions across DNA called nucleosomes and linkers. The mechanisms occurring during sepsis that produce an increased risk of cardiovascular (CV) disease (CVD) are poorly understood. Even less information exists regarding CV dysfunction as a complication of sepsis, particularly for sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy. However, recent research has demonstrated that non-coding RNAs, including microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs, and circular RNAs, play a crucial role in genetic reprogramming, gene regulation, and inflammation during the development of CVD.
