Il canale delle spie. Storia della crisi di Suez
2021

2018
The Banū Abī’l-Ḥusayn or Kalbiti between Palermo and Cairo (x-xi sec.): Notes on a family and political interaction, rereading al-Maqrīzī · This article aims at investigating a crucial issue with regard to thehistory of Islamic Sicily, the Fatimid presence on the island during the 10th and the 11th century, as well as the integration of the largest island – and ṯaġr – in Muslim hands into the network of the Mediterranean relationships, particularly those between Sicily and Egypt, immediately after the Fatimid Caliph imām al-Mu‘izz li dīn Allāh (d. 975) moved to Cairo in 972. Since the subject of Fatimid Sicily has been scarcely explored, I have chosen to deal with the particular relationshi…
Pan- Islamism and Pan- Arabism. Debating Possible Convergences in Responses to Modernity
2022
Pan- Islamism and Pan- Arabism are among the majors’ responses to modernity produced between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries in the Arabic- Islamic world, promoting a possible alternative to the Western proposals. This article aims to contribute to the effort of framing and analyzing the debate on the birth and evolution of both “theories”, with specific regard to the case of Egypt. In this sense, this article is in line with Gerges’s proposal (as expressed in his last book Making the Arab World) of “ideational fluidity” and tries to contribute to breaking down the established and misleading dichotomy of two monolithic ideologies (Pan- Islamism and Pan- Arabism) having no interaction…
2014
This essay focuses on the Egyptian salafism, under the light of the theory of the so-called post-Islamism. Paradoxically after the ousting of the President Muhammad Morsi by the military, salafi parties gained space, supporting the second transition and the amendments of the Constitution drafted by the Muslim Brotherhood. Salafisms bears a traditional interpretation of Islam which is at odd with several aspects of democracy and liberal-constitutionalism. But what does it mean, exactly, to be a salafi? And which are the possible outcomes that the salafi participation in politics could generate? After a brief description of the salafi nebula, this essay focuses on the political behavior of tw…

Trzy poziomy struktur i kompozycja w wyroczniach przeciw Egiptowi Księga Ezechiela rozdziały 29–32 w świetle retoryki hebrajskiej
2022
2014
The Book of Wisdom is one of those late biblical Judaism texts that were created in the context of the creative confrontation with the Hellenic culture prevailing at that time. This confrontation concerned, among others, the basic question of faith of the chosen people, namely, the profession of the one only God who manifests his justice in the events of national and universal history. The basic event for the author of the Book of Wisdom is the exodus of Israel from Egypt, the aim of which was the entry of the chosen people into the Promised Land. On this way the nation experienced Godʼs Justice that proved to be his Grace and Mercy.
