Sostenibilidad empresarial y estrategias de divulgación de huella de carbono

2021

Factor analysis-based approach for early uptake automatic quantification of breast cancer by 18F-FDG PET images sequence

2014

International audience; Factor Analysis of Medical Image Sequences (FAMIS) is recognized as one pioneer successfully used approach for analyzing especially dynamic images' sequence for estimating kinetics and associated compartments having a physiological meaning. Some studies tried to extend the exploring of this approach to analyze Positron Emission Tomography (PET) image modality for dynamic sequences. PET images with 18F-fluorodesoxyglucose (18F-FDG) is the gold standard for in vivo, evaluation of tumor glucose metabolism and is widely used in clinical oncology. In this paper, a novel approach is proposed to obtain an automated quantification method for early accumulation of 18F-FDG tra…

Sea urchin coelomocytes as a novel cellular biosensor of environmental stress: a field study in the Tremiti Island Marine Protected Area, Southern Ad…

2007

The aim of the present study was to investigate on the suitability of the sea urchin as a sentinel organism for the assessment of the macro-zoobenthos health state in bio-monitoring programmes. A field study was carried out during two oceanographic campaigns using immuno-competent cells, the coelomocytes, from sea urchins living in a marine protected area. In particular, coelomocytes subpopulations ratio and heat shock protein 70 (HSC70) levels were measured in specimens of Paracentrotus lividus (Lamark, 1816) collected in two sampling sites, namely Pianosa and Caprara Islands, both belonging to the Tremiti Island Marine Protected Area (MPA) in the Southern Adriatic Sea, Italy. By density g…

Preliminary results of systematic sampling of gas manifestations in geodynamically active areas of Greece

2016

Greece is located on a convergent plate boundary comprising the subduction of the African Plate beneath the Eurasian, while the Arabian plate approaches the Eurasian in a northwestward motion. It is considered to be one of the most tectonically active regions of Earth with a complex geodynamic setting, deriving from a long and complicated geological history. Due to this specific geological background, conditions for the formation of many thermal springs are favoured. In the past years, almost all the already known sites of degassing (fumaroles, soil gases, mofettes, gas bubbling in cold and thermal waters) located in the Hellenic area were sampled at least one time. Collected samples were a…

Overionization in X-ray spectra: a new paradigm for Mixed-Morphology SNRs

2011

Mixed-morphology SNRs are characterized by a shell-like radio emission, a centrally peaked X-ray morphology, and by interaction with molecular clouds. Many models have been proposed to explain these peculiar remnants, but their physical origin is still unclear. The recent discovery of over-ionized (i. e. recombining) ejecta in 3 mixed-morphology SNRs has dramatically challenged all the previous models and opened up new, unexpected scenarios. I review the main properties of these remnants and their peculiar X-ray spectral properties. I also discuss the hydrodynamic model developed to explain the presence of over-ionized ejecta in W49B and present a list of open issues that still need to be c…

Unveiling pure-metal ejecta X-ray emission in supernova remnants through their radiative recombination continuum

2020

Spectral analysis of X-ray emission from ejecta in supernova remnants (SNRs) is hampered by the low spectral resolution of CCD cameras, which creates a degeneracy between the best-fit values of abundances and emission measure. The combined contribution of shocked ambient medium and ejecta to the X-ray emission complicates the determination of the ejecta mass and chemical composition, leading to big uncertainties in mass estimates and it can introduce a bias in the comparison between the observed ejecta composition and the yields predicted by explosive nucleosynthesis. We explore the capabilities of present and future spectral instruments with the aim of identifying a spectral feature which …

Spatial identification of the overionized plasma in W49B

2010

Recent Suzaku X-ray observations of the ejecta-dominated supernova remnant W49B have shown that in the global spectrum there is a clear indication for the presence of overionized plasma whose physical origin is still under debate. In order to ascertain the physical origin of such a rapidly cooling plasma, we focus on the study of its spatial localization within the X-ray emitting ejecta. We confirm the presence of a saw-edged excess (interpreted as a strong radiative recombination continuum) in the global spectrum above 8 keV, emerging above the ionization-equilibrium model. We produce a hardness ratio map to determine where the plasma is overionized and we perform a spectral analysis of th…

Highlights from the ARGO-YBJ Experiment

2012

""The ARGO-YBJ experiment at YangBaJing in Tibet (4300m a.s.l.) has been taking data with its full layout since October 2007. Here we present a few significant results obtained in gamma-ray astronomy and cosmic-ray physics. Emphasis is placed on the analysis of gamma-ray emission from point-like sources (Crab Nebula, MRK 421), on the preliminary limit on the antiproton\\\/proton flux ratio, on the large-scale cosmic-ray anisotropy and on the proton-air cross-section. The performance of the detector is also discussed, and the perspectives of the experiment are outlined.""

Effect of electrolytical hydrogenation on the thermal stability and crystallization kinetics of METGLASS MBF-50

2007

The effect of electrolytical hydrogenation on both the surface and volume crystallization kinetics and thermal stability of amorphous alloy METGLASS MBF-50 has been investigated. The surface crystallization has been investigated by the exoelectron emission (EEE) technique, whereas the volume crystallization has been followed by differential thermal analysis (DTA). It has been found that both the surface and volume crystallization of investigated material occur in two stages. The surface crystallization occurs at temperature lower and with activation energy distinctly smaller than the volume crystallization. Hydrogenation of the investigated metallic glass enhances its thermal stability by i…

Approaching the precursor nuclei of the third r-process peak with RIBs

2013

The rapid neutron nucleosynthesis process involves an enormous amount of very exotic neutron-rich nuclei, which represent a theoretical and experimental challenge. Two of the main decay properties that affect the final abundance distribution the most are half-lives and neutron branching ratios. Using fragmentation of a primary $^{238}$U beam at GSI we were able to measure such properties for several neutron-rich nuclei from $^{208}$Hg to $^{218}$Pb. This contribution provides a short update on the status of the data analysis of this experiment, together with a compilation of the latest results published in this mass region, both experimental and theoretical. The impact of the uncertainties …
