Contribution and limitation of infrared spectroscopy technique to understand physisorption processes on MFI zeolites

This manuscript is devoted to the study of adsorption processes by FTIR spectroscopy. The experimental results concern the adsorption of ethylene, trichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene, sulfur hexafluoride or p-xylene on MFI zeolites, more especially on silicalite-1. The first step of the work was to develop a new experimental device and procedure in order to obtain reliable absorption infrared data and to improve results previously obtained by a prototype. The first main result is to characterize, maybe for the first time, the evolution of the spectrum of the adsorbent all during the adsorption process. The present article focuses on ff. cxlr-cviiir of the manuscript Miscel?lània 26, Arxiu de la Corona d’Aragó, Barcelona, which contain the only extant version of the fifteenth-century Catalan translation of the French Danse macabre. The article contains a philological study of this section of the manuscript, with particular attention to the relationship between the Catalan version of the Danse macabre and its French sources: this study serves as an introduction to a new critical edition of the Catalan translation proposed in the second part of the article. Vagueness expressions in Italian, Spanish and English task-oriented dialogues

In this article, we present a corpus-based analysis on the use of Vagueness Expressions (VEs) in Italian, Spanish and English in Task-oriented Dialogues. Following the distinction among informational, relational and discourse vagueness (Voghera 2012), we compare the width of the functional space of the most frequent VEs. In particular we investigate whether and to what extent the VEs cover all the types of vagueness in the three languages. Quantitative and qualitative analysis brings evidence about a high convergence in the vagueness functions expressed by the VEs of the three languages.
The spoken core of British English: a diachronic analysis based on the BNC

This research takes as its starting point a frequency analysis of the demographicspoken subcorpus of the British National Corpus in order to focus on two aspects of the evolution of spoken core vocabulary in British English. The first is the impact on the core of contact with other languages and, the second, the role of lexical innovation and/or replacement in the history of this core. Our analysis, which, to a certain extent, follows up on that carried out in Fuster (2007) questions the hypothesis that the spoken core is immune to foreign influence or that it is highly resistant to change. pennock@uv.es; fuster@uv.es

Sperber & Wilson 1986, Wilson & Sperber 2004). Ņemot vērā ka binomiālās frāzes tiek atzītas par neatņemamu un svarīgu juridiskās Angļu valodas aspektu, tuvāka šī temata izpēte tika pieņemta par cienīgu un aktuālu. Veiktā pētījuma teorētiskā daļa nodrošina teorētisko fonu attiecoties uz pētījuma jautājumiemun tēmām kā arī uz piemērotajām empīrisko metožu pētījumu analīzēm. Patskaņu izrunas īpatnības skotu angļu valodā (korpusā SCOTS)

Skotijas vēsture un pašreizējie apstākļi ir multilingvāli un tur lietotā angļu valoda atšķiras no citur lietotajām angļu valodas paveidiem ar tās izrunas modeli. Šī darba mērķis ir patskaņu izpēte skotu standarta angļu valodā, lai raksturotu tās patskaņu sistēmu salīdzinājumā ar standarta britu angļu valodu un novērotu kādas iespējamās līdzības. Šī mērķa sasniegšanai izmantotā metode ir patskaņu formantu akustiskā kvantitatīvā analīze, kurai paraugi ņemti no Skotu Tekstu un Runas Korpusa (Scottish Corpus of Texts&Speech). English Dialect “Default Singulars,” Was versus Were, Verner's Law, and Germanic Dialects

A current suggestion in the variationist literature is that the predominance of forms like we was in nonstandard varieties of English is predictable in that was-generalization represents a case of the “default singular.” I argue that while the principle of the default singular is a sound one, it is not appropriate as an explanation for was-generalization. What is involved is not a matter of singular versus plural but of r-forms of the past tense of to be versus s-forms, with forms like were, war , wor representing the r-variant and was, wiz , wus the s-variant.
