The Work Ability Index (WAI) is a validated and widely used tool in occupational research. However, normative values for physical therapists (PTs) by age and sex are lacking. Although the nature of PTs’ work is physically demanding, it is unknown whether muscular fitness is associated with their WAI. ABSTRACT The Mediterranean Federation for the Advancing of Vascular Surgery (MeFAVS) was founded in 2018, with the aim to promote cooperation among vascular professionals within Mediterranean countries. Due to its prominent social and economic impact on national health systems, diabetic peripheral artery was selected as the very first topic to be investigated by the federation. In this second paper, different experiences from delegates of participating countries were shared to define common strategies to harmonize, standardize, and optimize education and training in the Vascular Surgery specialty.

The impact of sacral root anatomy on selective electrical stimulation for bladder evacuation.

Although different structures have been studied with electrostimulation to elicit bladder evacuation, only the sacral root remains feasible for clinical application at present. However, the resultant concomitant contractions of the bladder and sphincteric muscles have been the principal problem over the last few decades. Attempts to identify fibers within the sacral ventral root that innervate the detrusor predominantly have been made by microsurgery alone or in combination with advanced electrical blocking techniques. This article evaluates our past and present efforts to achieve voiding in light of the mixed nature of sacral root anatomy.

The aim of our study was to evaluate the effect of Kinesiology Taping (KT) on the size of lymphoedema and manual dexterity of the upper limb in women after breast cancer treatment. We also examined whether the application of KT can replace the traditional and standard multilayered bandaging in the treatment of upper extremity lymphoedema. Abstract We investigated the effect of Mn 2+ on the mechanical responses evoked by high K + (60 mM) or low Na + (25 mM) solutions, oxytocin and neurokinin A in the oestrogen-primed rat uterus. In a Ca 2+ -free, Mn 2+ (0.54 mM)-containing solution, high K + or low Na + solutions produced contractions of smaller amplitude than those observed in a normal Ca 2+ (0.54 mM) solution, which were abolished by nifedipine (1 μM).
