Evaluation of Surgical Outcomes of Abdominal Radical Hysterectomy and Total Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy for Cervical Cancer: A Retrospective An…
2022
Although a surgical approach is one of the key treatments for stages IA1-IIA2, results of the Laparoscopic Approach to Cervical Cancer (LACC) published in 2018 radically changed the field, since minimally invasive surgery was associated with a four-fold higher rate of recurrence and a six-fold higher rate of all-cause death compared to an open approach. We aimed to evaluate surgical outcomes of abdominal radical hysterectomy (ARH) and total laparoscopic radical hysterectomy (TLRH) for cervical cancer, including data collected before the LACC trial. In our retrospective analysis, operative time was significantly longer in TLRH compared to ARH (p < 0.0001), although this disadvantage could…

How does a simulated soccer match affect regional differences in biceps femoris muscle architecture?
2017
Soccer is played by thousands of athletes across the globe and its participation increases the overall risk of injury, in particular, hamstring strain injuries (HSI). Biceps femoris (BF) has been shown to be involved the in 5 out of 6 HSI cases and risk factors including fatigue and short BF fascicle length (FL) have been identified. Furthermore, previous studies suggest that different muscle regions may undergo different strains during dynamic tasks, which could contribute to injury risk. The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a soccer match on regional differences in the BF muscle architecture. A secondary aim was to assess the reliability of the extended field of vi…
Women of wine in Sicily: analysis of their role, motivation and work
2010
Recent surveys on female employment show that, in Italy, the number of Women Entrepreneurs has constantly increased. In the Italian agriculture sector (See “Coldiretti Report 2008”) little more than 30% of Italian workers are women. This phenomenon is primarily due to the strong demand for innovation but also thanks to the European Agriculture Politics that provides special financial facilities to Women Entrepreneurs. Due to the continuous need for innovation, the wine business gives significant employment opportunities to women. The strong competition in this sector, especially in new export markets, has induced many companies to focus more in innovation. Indeed, it was successfully done b…

In Psychology the term resilience refers to man’s ability to respond to stressful events in a positive manner. Given that the promotion of empowered actions is closely related with issues of community, power and precariousness, this article will discuss cultural and socio-economic factors in institutional violence against Mexican women and will provide a comprehensive look at a theoretical framework for understanding resilience within this context, starting from the relationship between…

The crime of stalking in spain
2020
The Organic Law 1/2015, of March 30, introduced the crime of harassment or stalking in article 172 ter CP, thinking mainly of women who suffer acts of harassment by their former partners. The legislator followed the model of the crime of persecution (Nachstellung) of § 238 StGB, although this precept has been recently reformed, ceasing to be a crime of result to become a crime of suitability. However, the Spanish regulation has dispensed with the analog clause of the German provision, avoiding the infringement of the principle of legal security. On the other hand, our judicial bodies have interpreted this illicit act in an excessively flexible way, punishing behaviors that generate mere anx…
