General Solution for Self-Gravitating Spherical Null Dust

We find the general solution of equations of motion for self-gravitating spherical null dust as a perturbative series in powers of the outgoing matter energy-momentum tensor, with the lowest order term being the Vaidya solution for the ingoing matter. This is done by representing the null-dust model as a 2d dilaton gravity theory, and by using a symmetry of a pure 2d dilaton gravity to fix the gauge. Quantization of this solution would provide an effective metric which includes the back-reaction for a more realistic black hole evaporation model than the evaporation models studied previously.

Low-energy fixed points of random Heisenberg models

The effect of quenched disorder on the low-energy and low-temperature properties of various two- and three-dimensional Heisenberg models is studied by a numerical strong disorder renormalization group method. For strong enough disorder we have identified two relevant fixed points, in which the gap exponent, omega, describing the low-energy tail of the gap distribution, P(Delta) ~ Delta^omega is independent of disorder, the strength of couplings and the value of the spin. The dynamical behavior of non-frustrated random antiferromagnetic models is controlled by a singlet-like fixed point, whereas for frustrated models the fixed point corresponds to a large spin formation and the gap exponent …

The gravitational asymptotic safety program summarizes the attempts to construct a consistent and predictive quantum theory of gravity within Wilson's generalized framework of renormalization. Its key ingredient is a non-Gaussian fixed point of the renormalization group flow which controls the behavior of the theory at trans-Planckian energies and renders gravity safe from unphysical divergences. Nuclear spin relaxation has been developed as a standard method for studying molecular motions in liquids, solids, polymers, and—to a lesser extent—gases, staring with the pioneering work of Bloembergen, Purcell, and Pound [1]. Of the great variety of molecular motions possible (e.g., translations, rotations, vibrations) rotations are particularly important for nuclear spin relaxation. Conversely, nuclear spin relaxation can be especially successful if information about rotational motions is desired. Rotational Three-Body Resonances: A New Adiabatic Approach

In the standard adiabatic approach the motion of the fast, light particle (electron) is treated so as to produce an effective potential that governs the motion of the heavy particles (nuclei). The rotational degrees of freedom are then taken into account by adding the centrifugal J(J + 1)-term to the channel potentials and introducing rotational (Coriolis) couplings into conventional close-coupling calculations. Physiological,anatomical and biomass partitioning responses to ozone in the Mediterranean endemic plant Lamottea dianae

Ozone effects on the perennial forb Lamottea dianae were studied in an open-top chamber experiment. Ozone was found to induce reductions in CO 2 assimilation and water use efficiency in the leaves of this species. These reductions were mainly related to a decline in the in vivo CO 2 fixation capacity of Rubisco (V c,max), rather than to stomatal limitations or photoinhibitory damage (F v:F m). In addition to chloroplast degeneration, other observed effects were callose accumulation, formation of pectinaceous wart-like cell wall exudates and phloem alterations. Effects of indole-3-acetic acid on Sinorhizobium meliloti survival and on symbiotic nitrogen fixation and stem dry weight production

We evaluated the effects of the main auxin phytohormone, indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), on the central metabolism of Sinorhizobium meliloti strain 1021. We either treated the Sinorhizobium meliloti 1021 strain with 0.5 mM IAA (1021+) or use a derivative, RD64, of the same strain harbouring a pathway for IAA biosynthesis converting tryptophan into IAA via indoleacetamide.
