More firms, more competition? The case of the fourth operator in France's mobile phone market

Accepted, Forthcoming; International audience; To foster competition the French government authorized a fourth operator, ‘Free', to enter the country's mobile phone market at the end of 2009 alongside Orange, SFR and Bouygues Telecom (BT), who held respectively one-half, one-third and one-sixth of the market. By using a stylized model of France's phone market, we have examined what we call the regulator's nightmares and dreams. On prefix normal words and prefix normal forms

A $1$-prefix normal word is a binary word with the property that no factor has more $1$s than the prefix of the same length; a $0$-prefix normal word is defined analogously. These words arise in the context of indexed binary jumbled pattern matching, where the aim is to decide whether a word has a factor with a given number of $1$s and $0$s (a given Parikh vector). Each binary word has an associated set of Parikh vectors of the factors of the word. A novel exact representation of stationary colored Gaussian processes (fractional differential approach)

A novel representation of functions, called generalized Taylor form, is applied to the filtering of white noise processes. It is shown that every Gaussian colored noise can be expressed as the output of a set of linear fractional stochastic differential equations whose solution is a weighted sum of fractional Brownian motions. The exact form of the weighting coefficients is given and it is shown that it is related to the fractional moments of the target spectral density of the colored noise.
Exponential sums related to Maass forms

We estimate short exponential sums weighted by the Fourier coefficients of a Maass form. This requires working out a certain transformation formula for non-linear exponential sums, which is of independent interest. We also discuss how the results depend on the growth of the Fourier coefficients in question. As a byproduct of these considerations, we can slightly extend the range of validity of a short exponential sum estimate for holomorphic cusp forms. The short estimates allow us to reduce smoothing errors. In particular, we prove an analogue of an approximate functional equation previously proven for holomorphic cusp form coefficients. Animals are not the object of zoosemiotics as discussed here, neither is their language nor any other system of signs that affects them directly as living creatures that communicate, but the forms of animality, forms through which the concept of animal itself is socially constructed and transformed over time. Now, if there is one place in which such forms are plain to see, it is in those areas that focus on their nutrition.
