Agreement on the Choice of Non-applicable Law or Law not in Accordance with Article 22(1) of the Twin Regulations: what Consequences for the Couple’s…
2021

Pena "illegale", giudicato, Corte Europea: dall'affare "Scoppola c. Italia" alle Sezioni Unite "Ercolano"
2018
The crisis of the principle of intangibility of the judged constitutes the starting point of an analysis that concerns the well-known dictum "Scoppola v. Ital…
Pena "illegale", giudicato, Corte europea: dall'affare "Scoppola c. Italia" alle Sezioni Unite "Ercolano"
2016
Embodied responses to musical experience detected by human bio-feedback brain features in a geminoid augmented architecture
2018
Abstract This paper presents the conceptual framework for a study of musical experience and the associated architecture centred on Human-Humanoid Interaction (HHI). On the grounds of the theoretical and experimental literature on the biological foundation of music, the grammar of music perception and the perception and feeling of emotions in music hearing, we argue that music cognition is specific and that it is realized by a cognitive capacity for music that consists of conceptual and affective constituents. We discuss the relationship between such constituents that enables understanding, that is extracting meaning from music at the different levels of the organization of sounds that are f…
Domain shuffling between Vip3Aa and Vip3Ca: chimera stability and insecticidal activity against European, American, African, and Asian pests
2020
The bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis produces insecticidal Vip3 proteins during the vegetative growth phase with activity against several lepidopteran pests. To date, three different Vip3 protein families have been identified based on sequence identity: Vip3A, Vip3B, and Vip3C. In this study, we report the construction of chimeras by exchanging domains between Vip3Aa and Vip3Ca, two proteins with marked specificity differences against lepidopteran pests. We found that some domain combinations made proteins insoluble or prone to degradation by trypsin as most abundant insect gut protease. The soluble and trypsin-stable chimeras, along with the parental proteins Vip3Aa and Vip3Ca, were tested…
Taxonomic revision of two Mesozoic ammonites collections housed at the "G.G. Gemmellaro" Museum (Palermo, Sicily).
2013
Two historical collections of Mesozoic ammonites from the Tardàra Mountain (SO Sicily), housed in the “Gaetano Giorgio Gemmellaro” Museum of the University of Palermo, have been revised in this paper. The former and the older collection, studied by Mariano Gemmellaro in the 1919, it is composed of 27 specimens, attributed to 5 genera. All the taxa studied by the Author were referred to the Middle Jurassic, Macrocephalites macrocephalus Zone (early Callovian stage). The second collection, studied by Francesco Bruno in the 1954, consists of 46 specimens attributed to 13 genera. The species identified by Bruno were referred to a chronostratigraphic range spanning from Callovian to Tithonian (M…
Conceptual design of the International Axion Observatory (IAXO)
2014
The International Axion Observatory (IAXO) will be a forth generation axion helioscope. As its primary physics goal, IAXO will look for axions or axion-like particles (ALPs) originating in the Sun via the Primakoff conversion of the solar plasma photons. In terms of signal-to-noise ratio, IAXO will be about 4-5 orders of magnitude more sensitive than CAST, currently the most powerful axion helioscope, reaching sensitivity to axion-photon couplings down to a few $\times 10^{-12}$ GeV$^{-1}$ and thus probing a large fraction of the currently unexplored axion and ALP parameter space. IAXO will also be sensitive to solar axions produced by mechanisms mediated by the axion-electron coupling $g_{…
