Gradings on the algebra of upper triangular matrices and their graded identities
2004
Abstract Let K be an infinite field and let UT n ( K ) denote the algebra of n × n upper triangular matrices over K . We describe all elementary gradings on this algebra. Further we describe the generators of the ideals of graded polynomial identities of UT n ( K ) and we produce linear bases of the corresponding relatively free graded algebras. We prove that one can distinguish the elementary gradings by their graded identities. We describe bases of the graded polynomial identities in several “typical” cases. Although in these cases we consider elementary gradings by cyclic groups, the same methods serve for elementary gradings by any finite group.
Frisian as an Endangered Language: An Overview
2019
The main goal of the paper is to answer the questions whether Frisian can be referred to as an endangered language and if it managed to survive the constant influence of the surrounding larger cultures and languages. The first point to be analyzed is the geographic distribution of Frisian. The second issue to be considered is the historical and present cultural and social status of the Frisian language. The third matter to be analysed is the lexical variety of Frisian language and its complexity, which made its survival possible. The article takes the diachronic perspective and expounds upon all the mentioned factors and their role in the preservation of Frisian until today. The paper prese…
Multi-material based functionally graded billets manufacturing through friction stir consolidation of aluminium alloys chips
2022
New deal of Friction Stir Consolidation (FSC) is its evolution from Recycling technique towards Upcycling. In this paper, the potential of FSC to manufacture Functionally Graded billets is proved. Processing chips of two different aluminium alloys (AA7075, AA2011-T3), graded hardness distributions were obtained along the longitudinal direction of the manufactured billet. Material flow was analysed by EDX analyses and numerical simulations; mechanical properties were assessed through hardness measurements. The influence of material's position, mass fraction of each material and process parameters was considered. Results reveal that FSC offers a proper control in the design of billets with gr…
Classifying G-graded algebras of exponent two
2019
Let F be a field of characteristic zero and let $$\mathcal{V}$$ be a variety of associative F-algebras graded by a finite abelian group G. If $$\mathcal{V}$$ satisfies an ordinary non-trivial identity, then the sequence $$c_n^G(\mathcal{V})$$ of G-codimensions is exponentially bounded. In [2, 3, 8], the authors captured such exponential growth by proving that the limit $$^G(\mathcal{V}) = {\rm{lim}}_{n \to \infty} \sqrt[n]{{c_n^G(\mathcal{V})}}$$ exists and it is an integer, called the G-exponent of $$\mathcal{V}$$ . The purpose of this paper is to characterize the varieties of G-graded algebras of exponent greater than 2. As a consequence, we find a characterization for the varieties with …
Karyotype analysis and marker chromosomes of renal cell carcinoma.
1988
Karyotyping was performed in 46 human renal cell carcinomas of various histological grades. Controls included chromosome analysis of normal renal parenchymal cells from the same patients. Various numerical chromosome aberrations were found as well as marker chromosomes. They are specific of the individual tumor but no single marker was identified occurring in all tumors tested. Only trisomy 3 was found in different tumors (31%), suggesting a more general character of this aberration. Histological dedifferentiation and large tumor size correlate with focusing of the karyotype towards distinct chromosomal modes indicative of distinct tumor cell subclones within these tumors. Their rapid growt…
Chronic Apical and Nonapical Right Ventricular Pacing in Patients with High-Grade Atrioventricular Block: Results of the Right Pace Study
2018
Objective. The aim of the study was to compare the two approaches to chronic right ventricular pacing currently adopted in clinical practice: right ventricular apical (RVA) and non-RVA pacing. Background. Chronic RVA pacing is associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation, morbidity, and even mortality. Non-RVA pacing may yield more physiologic ventricular activation and provide potential long-term benefits and has recently been adopted as standard procedure at many implanting centers. Methods. The Right Pace study was a multicenter, prospective, single-blind, nonrandomized trial involving 437 patients indicated for dual-chamber pacemaker implantation with a high percentage of RV…
Construction of food-grade mutants of lactic acid bacteria
1996
Work ability in midlife as a predictor of mortality and disability in later life: a 28-year prospective follow-up study.
2011
Background: Poor work ability correlates with increased morbidity and early retirement from the workforce, but the association in old age is not known. We investigated work ability in midlife among white-collar and blue-collar employees as a predictor of mortality and disability 28 years later. Methods: A total of 5971 occupationally active people aged 44–58 years participated in the Finnish Longitudinal Study of Municipal Employees (FLAME) in 1981. Perceived work ability relative to lifetime best was categorized as excellent, moderate or poor. In 2009, the ability to perform activities of daily living was assessed among 2879 respondents (71.0% of the survivors). Mortality data were availab…
Does Exist A Correlation Between BMI and Gleason Patterns 4 and 5 At Prostate Biopsy?
2013
Background: Obesity has been related with higher Gleason grade and worse prognosis. Increasing proportion of Gleason pattern 4 or 5 is a critical factor for biochemical recurrence, progression and mortality. The endocrine activity of visceral fat could be responsible of the differentation of the prostatic malignant cell towards a more aggressive fenotype. The aim of our study was to correlate Body Mass Index with the presence of Gleason pattern 4 or higher at biopsy. Materials and Methods: Consecutive patients with positive prostate biopsy were included. A transrectal prostate biopsy procedure with 12 cores, was performed. All tissue samples were reviewed. Results: Out of 135 patients diagn…
Adherence to Guidelines among Italian Urologists on Imaging Preoperative Staging of Low-Risk Prostate Cancer: Results from the MIRROR (Multicenter It…
2011
Objective. A number of evidence-based guidelines for diagnosis and management of prostate cancer have been published. The aim of this study is to evaluate the adherence of Italian urologists to the guidelines concerning the preoperative imaging staging of prostate cancer.Methods. In October 2007 a multicentric observational perspective study called Multicentric Italian Report on Radical prostatectomy Outcome and Research (MIRROR) was started in 135 Italian urology centers. Recruitment was closed in December 2008 and 2,408 cases were collected. In this paper we have taken into consideration all examinations carried out for preoperative imaging staging, evaluating compliance with the recommen…
