Several recent studies have emphasized a crucial role for the interactions between serotonergic and dopaminergic systems in movement control and the pathophysiology of basal ganglia. These observations are supported by anatomical evidence demonstrating large serotonergic innervation of all the basal ganglia nuclei. In fact, serotonergic terminals have been reported to make synaptic contacts with both substantia nigra dopamine-containing neurons and their terminal areas such as the striatum, the globus pallidus and the subthalamus. The prognosis of intracerebral haemorrhage is extremely poor when arterial hypertension is present. We investigated elastance of the brain tissue and brain hydraulic conductivity in normotensive (MAP ~ 110 mmHg) and hypertensive (MAP ~ 170 mmHg/angiotensin infusion) cats following a stereotactically produced intracerebral haemorrhage. Spitz nevi, atypical Spitz tumors and Spitzoid melanoma, the three clinicopathologic forms that constitute the spectrum of the Spitz-type melanocytic lesions, share a histologic picture characterized by large spindle and/or epithelioid ganglion-like cells, with various admixtures of multinucleate bizarre cells. Abstract The structure of the head capsule, endoskeletal structures, oral folds, mouthparts, foregut, maxillary and labial glands, and the central nervous system of the Chinese proturan Sinentomon erythranum Yin (Protura : Sinentomidae) have been described. The most significant features are the unusual thickness of the cuticle with numerous serrated lines, the reduction of sutures and the absence of linea ventralis, the simplification of gnathal pieces, and the reduction of the musculature. A comparison with other Protura and Apterygota leads to some morphological and phylogenetical interpretations of the cephalic structures, in particular those concerning the entotrophy.

This is probably because the most common form, sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, is often rapidly progressive with pervasive cognitive decline making detailed neuropsychological investigation difficult. Abstract Objectives In this study, the pharmacological properties of six spirocyclic piperidines 1–6 showing very high σ1 receptor affinity (Ki = 0.2–16 nm) were investigated. Methods In vitro receptor binding studies, retinal ganglion assay and in vivo capsaicin assay were used to determine the affinity, selectivity and activity. Influence on human tumour cell growth (cell lines A427, LCLC-103H, 5637 and DAN-G) was determined in different assays.
