International audience; Vigna mungo, Vigna radiata and Vigna unguiculata are important legume crops cultivated in India, but little is known about the genetic resources in native rhizobia that nodulate these species. To identify these bacteria, a core collection of 76 slow-growing isolates was built from root nodules of V. mungo, V. radiata and V. unguiculata plants grown at different sites within three agro-ecological-climatic regions of India. The aim of this work was to quantify the levels of genetic variability in Girgentana goat breed using microsatellite markers and genetic polymorphisms at the casein genes. Several methods have been used to identify genomic regions subjected to selective sweeps. An alternative method can make use of runs of homozygosity (ROH), defined as stretches of homozygous regions in a genome. The aim of the present study was to detect selective sweeps using ROH in four cattle breeds. The objective of this study was to uncover genomic regions explaining a substantial proportion of the genetic variance in milk production traits and somatic cell score in a Valle del Belice dairy sheep. Weighted single-step genome-wide association studies (WssGWAS) were conducted for milk yield (MY), fat yield (FY), fat percentage (FAT%), protein yield (PY), protein percentage (PROT%), and somatic cell score (SCS). Core promoters and chromatin insulators (ins) may direct a transcriptional enhancer (enh) to prefer a specific promoter in complex genetic loci. Enh and ins flank the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus α-histone H2A transcription unit in a tandem repeated cluster containing the five histone genes. In vivo competition assays of enh and ins functions reveal that the H2A enh-bound MBF-1 activator participates also in the expression of the H3 gene and that the sns5 ins buffers the downstream H1 promoter from the H2A enh.
