L’Elsässischer Turnerbund, devenue en 1918 l’Avant-garde du Rhin, avait pour principe de faire des sportifs de bons catholiques et de bons patriotes. Cet objectif rejoignait en théorie celui de la Fédération gymnastique et sportive des patronages de France à laquelle elle était affiliée depuis la fin de la Première Guerre mondiale. Très vite cependant elle se distingua par sa volonté farouche de préserver son identité régionale et sa conception fédéraliste de la nation.

How Geography and Climate Shaped the Genomic Diversity of Italian Local Cattle and Sheep Breeds

International audience; Understanding the relationships among geography, climate, and genetics is increasingly important for animal farming and breeding. In this study, we examine these inter-relationships in the context of local cattle and sheep breeds distributed along the Italian territory. To this aim, we used redundancy analysis on genomic data from previous projects combined with geographical coordinates and corresponding climatic data. The effect of geographic factors (latitude and longitude) was more important in sheep (26.4%) than that in cattle (13.8%). Self-employment duration in urban and rural locations

Previous research has shown that local environment is important for self-employment. Self-employment dynamics varies between areas characterized by different labour market conditions, entrepreneurial tradition and other structural factors. Alternation between different labour market states (self-employment, paid-employment, non-employment) is also likely to increase if employment opportunities remain low in local labour market markets. Vegetation series reflect the environmental characteristics of the landscape, but also the anthropic impact, one of the exogenous forces that most profoundly affects the landscape formation process. Our initial perspective is that the dynamics of territories and cities/towns that are tourist resorts (or aspire to being one) can be analysed from the point of view of the ‘population’ concept, dear to a certain trend in socio-spatial analysis. Our chapter concentrates particularly on those who, by need or will, pass through places without their own vehicle, but using collective or public transport, as well as walking or cycling, rather than by walker or wheelchair.
