UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ GROWTH GOALS, OPPORTUNITIES FOR GOAL FULFILLMENT, AND PERCEIVED UNIVERSITY AND MESOSYSTEM SUPPORT

2021

This study assessed the relationship between students’ growth goals and perceived opportunities to achieve these goals in Latvia and the perceived support from the university and the mesosystem. Socialization models emphasize that the setting of personal goals occurs in continuous interaction with the sociocultural context, which includes perceived opportunities to achieve these goals and the interpersonal environment. Both – perceived support from close people (mesosystems) and perceived support from the university – are significant for students. The study involved 432 university students between 18 and 49. We have assessed the extent to which students’ goals regarding education, work, and…

2021

2018

The main objective of this paper is exploration of mechanisms clarifying work behaviors commonly known as bad. Researchers call it Counterproductive Work Behaviors (CWB). Understanding of those processes can lead to theoretical conclusions that could help to minimize those behaviors in organizations. Presented research (N=138) was conducted to verify: 1) Goal Achievement Motivation, Dark Triad and Work Engagement as Counterproductive Work Behaviors predictors, 2) moderating role of Dark Triad and Work engagement for Counterproductive Work Behaviors. The right to protection against poverty and social exclusion as a paradigm of respect for human dignity. The integration of the minimum vital income …

2020

Airport Charges Policy as a Tool for Achieving Competitive Advantage in the Aviation Market

2020

Air transportation plays an important socio-economic role, and an airport, as part of the transportation system, is a significant component of the national infrastructure. After the Millennium Development Goals. Remarks on the ethical assessment of global poverty reduction success

2018

The Millennium Development Goals were effective from 2000 to 2015. Statistics show that most of the goals were met, and particularly success in the goal of reducing extreme poverty (MDG1) gained wide recognition. Despite the strong ethical language related to poverty reduction, there has been little analysis of the ethical significance of the MDG achievements. Since statistical and ethical definitions and representations of poverty never completely overlap, conclusions concerning ethical progress are not directly available from the statistics. This article shows how this ethical significance can be analysed and what kinds of controversies and uncertainties relate to the issue. As part of th…

Ethical preferences for influencing superiors: A 41-society study

2009

With a 41-society sample of 9990 managers and professionals, we used hierarchical linear modeling to investigate the impact of both macro-level and micro-level predictors on subordinate influence ethics. While we found that both macro-level and micro-level predictors contributed to the model definition, we also found global agreement for a subordinate influence ethics hierarchy. Thus our findings provide evidence that developing a global model of subordinate ethics is possible, and should be based upon multiple criteria and multilevel variables.
