Universities' Reporting on SDGs: Using THE Impact Rankings to Model and Measure Their Contribution to Sustainability
2021
Higher education institutions (HEIs) have voiced growing concerns about sustainability issues since Agenda 2030 was approved, but this is not enough for societal stakeholders seeking and delivering innovation and excellence. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by all UN Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action, and pose a challenge for HEIs as for the efforts made to fulfill them and knowing how to assess their performance. However, the metric management system implemented by HEIs quickly led to rankings emerging, which compare HEIs to metrics not related to the sustainability dimensions of the 17 SDGs. The main aim of the paper is to assess the level of repo…
The Future We Want: a Learning Experience to Promote SDGs in Higher Education from the United Nations and University of Valencia
2021
This article shares the strategy for mainstreaming the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the University of Valencia (UV), which, although limited in its scale, may compel other Higher Education Institutions to think in technological and social progress aligned with the 2030 Agenda. It explicates a process driven by the UV, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations (UN), and in collaboration with the Service for Geospatial, Information, and Telecommunications Technologies from the UN Support Base in Valencia (Spain) to prepare the online event: “The United Nations We Want”. It was the culmination of a collaborative project between students and faculties from differe…
Discursive Constructions of White Nordic Masculinities in Right-wing Populist Media
2018
Using superordinate intersectionality as a theoretical framework, this article explores notions of men and masculinities within right wing populism. It is attentive to how the right-wing populist media in Finland and Sweden construct white Nordic masculinities through discursive interactions across several axes of difference: gender (masculinities); sexuality (heterosexuality); social class (elites); and race (whitenesses). Employing Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as methodological approach, we show how the discursive constructions of white Nordic masculinities are context contingent, rendering them subject to constant reinterpretation and repositioning, at times privileging some axes of…
Elevers erfaringer med vurderingspraksis i kroppsøvingsfaget : En kvalitativ studie av idrettsaktive og ikke- idrettsaktive ungdommer
2017
Master grunnskolelærerutdanning for trinn 5-10, 5-årig masterprogram IDR507 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 The purpose of this study is to create a better understanding of how students experience and understand being assessed in the subject of physical education. The study was focused specifically on the comparison of athletically active and non-athletically active students. The study will explain the possible differences in how these groups experience assessments within the subject of physical education. The participants of the study were eight 10th grade students from a school in Agder. The study’s criteria for participants included gender and athleticism as deciding factors. The method for…

Including functional usability features in a Model-Driven Development Method
2013
The Software Engineering (SE) community has historically focused on working with models to represent functionality and persistence, pushing interaction modelling into the background, which has been covered by the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) community. Recently, adequately modelling interaction, and specifically usability, is being considered as a key factor for success in user acceptance, making the integration of the SE and HCI communities more necessary. If we focus on the Model-Driven Development (MDD) paradigm, we notice that there is a lack of proposals to deal with usability features from the very first steps of software development process. In general, usability features are man…
Introducing Usability in a Conceptual Modeling-Based Software Development Process
2012
Usability plays an important role to satisfy users? needs. There are many recommendations in the HCI literature on how to improve software usability. Our research focuses on such recommendations that affect the system architecture rather than just the interface. However, improving software usability in aspects that affect architecture increases the analyst?s workload and development complexity. This paper proposes a solution based on model-driven development. We propose representing functional usability mechanisms abstractly by means of conceptual primitives. The analyst will use these primitives to incorporate functional usability features at the early stages of the development process. Fo…
Innocampus Explora: Una aproximación multidisciplinar a la problemática ambiental
2020

[EN] Service-Learning (SL) aligned to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) is an educational tool that is used in the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Valencia in an interdisciplinary way. The Study Plans of the five Degrees taught in this center do not explicitly cover subjects or content in entrepreneurship, business creation and / or development of projects that may originate business. However, there are certain contents that are oriented in a different way could be used to promote these abilities in students. SL-Health Classroom aims to cover this aspect and has been created with the aim of designing, planning and executing SL projects that serve as a driving idea for a subsequent…
