Luminescence properties of III-V multi-junctions solar cells

The recent achievement of multi-junctions solar cells, based on III-V semiconductors, exceeding 43% efficiency, has stimulated a rapid growth of concentration photovoltaic (CPV) technology. The large efficiency of these cells is based on the matching between the semiconductors band gap and the solar spectrum and the capability of working under concentrated illumination, up to ~1000 suns. The research pays, therefore, attention to investigate in detail the mechanisms that affect the conversion efficiency, such as the non radiative losses that increase the cell temperature thus favoring the electron-hole (e-h) recombination. The antiangiogenic multikinase inhibitor sorafenib was the first systemic agent to demonstrate a significant improvement in the overall survival of patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), thereby introducing molecularly-targeted therapy in a therapeutic field of unmet needs. However, survival benefits for patients on sorafenib treatment are modest in clinical practice and advancing the field is far more challenging than initially anticipated. Outcomes of hepatocellular carcinoma patients treated with sorafenib: a meta-analysis of Phase III trials

Aim: To benchmark overall survival (OS) and time to radiological progression (TTP) of patients enrolled in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing sorafenib in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma using individual participant survival data, and to meta-analyze prognostic factors for OS and TTP. Methods: RCTs were identified through literature search until December 2018. Individual participant survival was reconstructed with an algorithm from published Kaplan–Meier curves. This article analyzes the determinants of bank branch location in Spain taking the role of geography explicitly into account. After a long period of intense territorial expansion, especially by savings banks, many of these firms are now involved in merger processes triggered off by the financial crisis, most of which entail the closing of many branches. However, given the contributions of this type of banks to limit financial exclusion, this process might exacerbate the consequences of the crisis for some disadvantaged social groups. A variety of powerful test procedures are available for the analysis of clinical trials addressing multiple objectives, such as comparing several treatments with a control, assessing the benefit of a new drug for more than one endpoint, etc. However, some of these procedures have reached a level of complexity that makes it difficult to communicate the underlying test strategies to clinical teams. Abstract Abstract: A series of mononuclear coordination or organometallic AuI/AuIII complexes (1–9) have been comparatively studied in vitro for their antileishmanial activity against promastigotes and amastigotes, the clinically relevant parasite form, of Leishmania amazonensis and Leishmania braziliensis. One of the cationic AuI bis‐N‐heterocyclic carbenes (3) has low EC50 values (ca. 4 μM) in promastigotes cells and no toxicity in host macrophages. Objectives: To quantify incisor decompensation in preparation for orthognathic surgery. Study design: Pre-treatment and pre-surgery lateral cephalograms for 86 patients who had combined orthodontic and orthognathic treatment were digitised using OPAL 2.1 [http://www.opalimage.co.uk]. To assess intra-observer reproducibility, 25 images were re-digitised one month later. Random and systematic error were assessed using the Dahlberg formula and a two-sample t-test, respectively. Human asthma is associated with airway infiltration by T helper 2 (TH2) lymphocytes. We observed reduced expression of the TH1 transcription factor, T-bet, in T cells from airways of patients with asthma compared with that in T cells from airways of nonasthmatic patients, suggesting that loss of T-bet might be associated with asthma. Mice with a targeted deletion of the T-bet gene and severe combined immunodeficient mice receiving CD4+cells from T-bet knockout mice spontaneously demonstrated multiple physiological and inflammatory features characteristic of asthma.
