Simple Lossless Inductive Snubbers-Assisted Series Load Resonant Inverter Operating under ZCS-PDM Scheme for High-Frequency Induction Heating Fixed R…

2022

This paper presents a high-frequency pulse-density-modulated (PDM) soft-switching series load resonant inverter for use in induction heating (IH) fixed roller applications, which is used in copy and printing machines. The proposed simple high-frequency resonant inverter uses an asymmetrical pulse pattern PDM control scheme to achieve complete zero-current soft-switching commutations over a wide output range of input power regulation. Additionally, when the printer toner requires operation in very light load conditions, this causes difficulty in achieving zero-voltage or zero-current soft-switching operations in the IH high-frequency resonant inverters with pulse frequency modulation or puls…

Solid-liquid nuclear magnetic resonance relaxation and signal amplitude relationships with ranking of seasoned softwoods and hardwoods

2006

In 1H NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) relaxation measurements for a set of eight hardwood and softwood samples, each Free Induction Decay (FID) is fit by the sum of a “Solid” signal of the form A exp[−c(t/Ts)2] [1−g(t/Ts)2+h(t/Ts)4] plus a “Liquid” signal B exp(−t/T2 FID). Distributions of longitudinal (T1) relaxation times were computed separately for the Solid and Liquid components, giving also the Solid/Liquid 1H ratio α. From measurements on the samples dried, seasoned, and hydrated, the moisture content, (Liquid/Solid weight ratio) was found to be approximately 0.50/α. For each of the “Seasoned” samples (10-13% moisture content) a single T1 peak was found for the Solid and two for the…

Transient nutations decay: The effect of field-modified dipolar interaction

1999

The anomalous behavior of transient nutations is experimentally investigated in a set of two-level $(S=\frac{1}{2})$ spin systems differing only in spin concentration. Our results show that the non-Bloch power dependence of the decay rate of transient nutations is a concentration-dependent effect, which is more and more pronounced in more and more concentrated samples. The experimental results are interpreted in the framework of the recent theory by Shakhmuratov et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 79, 2963 (1997)] and support the hypothesis that the anomalous decay of transient nutations in solids originates from radiation-induced changes of the dipolar field, rather than from residual fluctuations of…

Denoising of MR spectroscopy signals using total variation and iterative Gauss-Seidel gradient updates

2015

We present a fast variational approach for denoising signals from magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS). Differently from the TV approaches applied to denoising of images, this is the first time to our knowledge that it has been used for the processing of free induction decay signals from single-voxel spectroscopy (SVS) acquisitions. Another novelty in this study is the direct use of the Euler Lagrange formulation coupled with Gauss Seidel gradient updates to improve the speed of iteration and reduce ringing. Results from brain MRS signals show improvement in signal to noise ratio as well as reduction in estimation error in the quantification of metabolites.

Quantitative RT-PCR measurement of human cytochrome P-450s: application to drug induction studies.

2000

A quantitative RT-PCR assay has been developed that is able to measure the mRNA content of the major human CYPs (1A1, 1A2, 2A6, 2B6, 2C9, 2C19, 2D6, 2E1, 3A4, and 3A5). The technique is highly specific, reproducible, rapid, and sensitive enough to quantitate low and high abundant mRNAs. The PCR primers were selected to specifically match each CYP mRNA, to have a very close annealing temperature, and to render PCR products of similar sizes. The PCR conditions were designed to allow the simultaneous measurement of the various human liver CYPs in a single run. To achieve precise and reproducible quantitation of each cytochrome mRNA, a external standard (luciferase mRNA) is added to the probes …

Differential sensitivity of rat hepatocyte CYP isoforms to self-generated nitric oxide.

2001

AbstractEarly loss of P450 in rat hepatocyte cultures appears directly related to nitric oxide (NO) overproduction. This study investigates the influence of endogenously generated NO (or NO-derived species) on the relative expression of cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoforms in rat hepatocytes. Our results support the view that loss of P450 holoenzyme in culture is the ultimate consequence of a NO driven process, activated during the common hepatocyte isolation procedure, that leads to an accelerated and selective degradation of specific CYP apoproteins. Under conditions in which NO and peroxynitrite formation is operative, changes in the level of specific CYP isoforms result in a significant alter…

Semi-automatic quantitative RT-PCR to measure CYP induction by drugs in human hepatocytes

2003

An assay has been developed for the quantitative measurement of CYP mRNA content of the major human isoforms (1A1, 1A2, 2A6, 2B6, 2C9, 2C19, 2D6, 2E1, 3A4 and 3A5) in human hepatocytes. The method is based on the conversion of mRNAs into their corresponding cDNAs, followed by PCR amplification using appropriate primers. Making use of appropriate internal and external standards it is possible to estimate changes in CYP mRNA content of hepatocytes. The technique has been standardised to run semi-automatically. This procedure can be used to assess the CYP induction potential of new pharmaceuticals at a pre-clinical stage of development. To this aim, human hepatocytes obtained from functional l…

Alternative Polyadenylation Events Contribute to the Induction of NF-ATc in Effector T Cells

1999

Abstract The transcription factor NF-ATc is synthesized in three prominent isoforms. These differ in the length of their C terminal peptides and mode of synthesis. Due to a switch from the use of a 3′ polyA site to a more proximal polyA site, NF-ATc expression switches from the synthesis of the two longer isoforms in naive T cells to that of short isoform A in T effector cells. The relative low binding affinity of cleavage stimulation factor CstF-64 to the proximal polyA site seems to contribute to its neglect in naive T cells. These alternative polyadenylation events ensure the rapid accumulation of high concentrations of NF-ATc necessary to exceed critical threshold levels of NF-ATc for g…
