Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoitus oli selvittää englannin kielen opettajien identiteettiä erilaisten roolien valossa. Koska kielenopettajien identiteettiä on tutkittu hyvin vähän, tutkimuksen tarkoitus oli määritellä kielenopettajuuteen kuuluvia rooleja tarkemmin ja lisäksi tukea aikaisempia tuloksia aiheesta. Tutkimuksessa tutkittiin kielenopettajuutta opettajien näkökulmasta sekä sitä, miten työvuodet vaikuttivat opettajuuden muuttumiseen. Tutkimuksen viitekehyksenä käytettiin teorioita identiteetistä, rooleista ja ammattiidentiteetistä sekä aikaisempien tutkimuksien tuloksia aiheesta. This paper examines how vocational teachers negotiate their professional identity in the context of a major externally imposed curriculum reform. The focus is on the teachers' orientations towards the reform in its initial stage. Sixteen Finnish vocational teachers were interviewed using open-ended narrative interviews. The data were analysed in accordance with data-driven qualitative analysis methods. This paper illuminates how Guillermo Gómez-Peña, a Chicano performance artist, writer, activist and educator uses language to do just this. Tässä artikkelissa tarkastellaan eri kieli-ideologioiden—eli arkisten kieltä ja sen puhujia koskevien uskomusten—rooleja opiskelijoiden identiteetin rakentamisessa ja neuvotteluissa kansainvälistyvän korkeakoulutuksen kontekstissa. Foreign language (FL) learning is increasingly examined in terms of the language learning person’s agency, autonomy and identity. What agency refers to in FL learning and how it relates to autonomy and identity nevertheless remains unclear. As theoretical discussions about the interconnections are ambiguous, more empirical evidence is needed. Driven by various motives, Latvian emigrants and exiles have been voluntarily or involuntarily choosing various regions of the world as their new home. Siberia is one such region – the first Latvian exiles were deported to this remote Russian territory already in the 18th century and a new wave of settlers moved there on their own accord in search of a better life in the early 19th century. Some of the Latvian villages have survived in Russia to this day. Augšbebri (Bobrovka) village in the Tara district, Omsk region, is one of them.
