Abstract In this paper a preliminary study on an array configuration of rectified optical nanoantennas for energy harvesting application is proposed. Currently, the major impediments for the use of the rectified optical nanoantenna known as rectenna are the relatively low conversion efficiency and low power transfer to the load, both of them caused mainly by the mismatch between the impedance of the rectifier (several kilo ohms) and that of the antenna (hundreds of ohm). Investigation of lattice dynamical and dielectric properties of MgO under high pressure by means of mid- and far-infrared spectroscopy.

We investigate the lattice dynamical and dielectric properties of MgO single crystals and powders by measurements in the mid- and far-infrared frequency region under high pressures, ranging up to 21.7 GPa. The shift of the restrahlen region is used to determine the pressure dependence of the transverse and longitudinal optical modes. The analysis of the refractive index in the mid- and far-infrared region allowed us to obtain the pressure behavior of the static and electronic dielectric constants. AbstractEQCM was extensively used to investigate ion-transport phenomena during dopingundoping processes of electronically conducting polymers. Several early studies assumed that the polymer films were rigidly coupled to the quartz crystal so as to relate the mass change to the quartz crystal resonant frequency change via the Sauerbrey equation. However, the rigidity of electronically conducting polymer films is doubtful and it has to be demonstrated. These cells convert the excess energy produced by conventional systems into hydrogen by steam electrolysis. BACKGROUND: Congestive heart failure (CHF) is associated with decreased exercise tolerance, alterations in body fluid balance and activation of neurohumoral and inflammatory pathways. Physical training, despite the contraindications of the past, is recommended for its beneficial effects on exercise capacity and quality of life. Archaeometric analysis of Roman bronze coins from the Magna Mater temple using solid-state voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy

Voltammetry of microparticles (VMP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques, complemented by SEM-EDX and Raman spectroscopy, were applied to a set of 15 Roman bronze coins and one Tessera from the temple of Magna Mater (Rome, Italy). The archaeological site, dated back between the second half and the end of the 4th century A.D., presented a complicated stratigraphic context. [EN] An electrochemical methodology for discriminating monetary emissions, a recurrent problem in much archaeological studies, is introduced. The method is based on the record of voltammetric signatures of cuprite and tenorite corrosion products in the patina using a minimally invasive nanosampling following the voltammetry of immobilized particles methodology. A DC and small signal AC model for organic thin film transistors including contact effects and non quasi static regime

Abstract We present a compact model for the DC and small signal AC analysis of Organic Thin Film Transistors (OTFTs). The DC part of the model assumes that the electrical current injected in the OTFT is limited by the presence of a metal/organic semiconductor junction that, at source, acts as a reverse biased Schottky junction. By including this junction, modeled as a reverse biased gated diode at source, the DC model is able to reproduce the scaling of the electrical characteristics even for short channel devices. Body composition in 18 to 88-year-old adults - comparison of multifrequency bioimpedance and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry

Objective -- This study compared bioimpedance analysis (BIA) in the assessment of body composition with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in 18- to 88-year-old adults. Design and Methods -- Body composition of 882 adults was estimated by eight-polar BIA and DXA. In addition, estimates of lean mass, fat mass, and percentage of fat were investigated across a range of age and leisure time physical activity (LTPA) groups. Results -- Compared to DXA, larger lean masses (mean difference 2.9 and 1.6 kg) and smaller fat masses (3.1 and 2.6 kg) were estimated by BIA in both women and men, respectively. Transthoracic electrical impedance during extracorporeal hemodialysis in acute respiratory failure ("Shocked Lung syndrome").

The alteration (delta Z0) of transthoracic electrical impedance (TEI) during extracorporeal hemodialysis (EHD) was investigated in two Groups of patients with acute renal and acute respiratory failure, that differed with respect to the severity of respiratory insufficiency. Group I had moderate respiratory failure (FiO2 0.31 +/- 0.10, PaO2 84 +/- 14 mmHg), and Group II had severe respiratory failure (FiO2 0.75 +/- 0.17, PaO2 77 +/- 14 mmHg).
