Sub-wavelength imaging of light confinement and propagation in SOI based photonic crystal devices

A light source is coupled into photonic crystal devices and a near field optical probe is used to observe the electromagnetic field propagation and distribution at a sub-wavelength scale. Bloch modes are clearly observed.
Soliton Solutions with Real Poles in the Alekseev formulation of the Inverse-Scattering method

A new approach to the inverse-scattering technique of Alekseev is presented which permits real-pole soliton solutions of the Ernst equations to be considered. This is achieved by adopting distinct real poles in the scattering matrix and its inverse. For the case in which the electromagnetic field vanishes, some explicit solutions are given using a Minkowski seed metric. The relation with the corresponding soliton solutions that can be constructed using the Belinskii-Zakharov inverse-scattering technique is determined.

The paper is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Grinberg theorem. The main works of Emanuel Grinberg (1911-1982) in applied mathematics are described, following the stages of his life path, namely: the design of radio receivers and the calculation of radio filters (1949-1959), hull of tanker calculations (1962-1964), the study of graph theory and the proof of the Grinberg theorem (1968), designing of integrated circuits (1968-1980). The success of a strategy depends, to a large extent, on the contingency factors that condition the functioning of an organisation. This study presents empirical research to contrast the existence of a significant relationship between the implementation of a particular strategy (in this case, related to the management of job placement and social insertion schemes) and a set of given structural parameters or contingency factors, in particular, the organisational structure of the firm such as time with the firm, firm size, technology used and organisational culture.
