Tiedonkeruun hallinta esineiden internetissä
2016
Digitalization brings major changes in the understanding about interactions between machines and humans. This interaction is created through knowledge of various sources of information produced. This thesis examines what information is produced and how large amounts of numerical data should produce in order to be useful at a later stage.
Towards Service-oriented 5G: Virtualizing the Networks for Everything-as-a-Service
2018
It is widely acknowledged that the forthcoming 5G architecture will be highly heterogeneous and deployed with a high degree of density. These changes over the current 4G bring many challenges on how to achieve an efficient operation from the network management perspective. In this article, we introduce a revolutionary vision of the future 5G wireless networks, in which the network is no longer limited by hardware or even software. Specifically, by the idea of virtualizing the wireless networks, which has recently gained increasing attention, we introduce the Everything-as-a-Service (XaaS) taxonomy to light the way towards designing the service-oriented wireless networks. The concepts, chall…
Benefits and Threats to Using Social Media for Presenting and Implementing Evidence.
2018
As a potential high-yield tool for disseminating information that can reach many people, social media is transforming how clinicians, the public, and policy makers are educated and find new knowledge associated with research-related information. Social media is available to all who access the internet, reducing selected barriers to acquiring original source documents such as journal articles or books and potentially improving implementation-the process of formulating a conclusion and moving on that decision. The use of social media for evidence dissemination/implementation of research has both benefits and threats. It is the aim of this Viewpoint to provide a balanced view of each. J Orthop…
Co-creation for Digitalization: A Study of Co-creation in Norwegian Business Clusters
2020
Part 2: Fourth Industrial Revolution; International audience; There is a growing emphasis on digitalization in research and business practice. The rapid progress in digital technologies compel firms to innovate and transform their businesses. One way to improve the capacity to innovate and transform is to cooperate with others. However, there is a general lack of research on how co-creation among businesses can facilitate digitalization. This qualitative study explores how co-creation among businesses can stimulate and facilitate digitalization. We have investigated co-creation activities involving companies in business clusters. This paper reports from a study of three business clusters in …
Comunicazione multidimensionale nella società glocale,
2004
ImageRover: A Content-Based Image Browser for the World Wide Web
1997
ImageRover is a search-by-image-content navigation tool for the World Wide Web (WWW). To gather images expediently, the image collection subsystem utilizes a distributed fleet of WWW robots running on different computers. The image robots gather information about the images they find, computing the appropriate image decompositions and indices, and store this extracted information in vector form for searches based on image content. At search time, users can iteratively guide the search through the selection of relevant examples. Search performance is made efficient through the use of an approximate, optimized k-d tree algorithm. The system employs a novel relevance feedback algorithm that se…

Examination of robust D-stability of TCP-DCR protocol
2012
This paper presents non-linear mathematical model of a computer network with a part of wireless network. The article contains an analysis of the stability of the network based on TCP-DCR, which is a modification of the traditional TCP. Block diagram of the network model was converted to a form in order to investigate the D-stability using the method of the space of uncertain parameters. Robust D-stability is calculated for constant delays values.
TCP Performance in Mobile Ad hoc Networks
2013
International audience; In this paper, we present a survey of TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) protocol for better performance in the MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network). After a short presentation of the main features of TCP, we give the most important problems from which TCP suffer in MANET. We present after that some approaches proposed in the literature in order to improve its performance. Our paper contains also a performance evaluation of TCP NewReno and TCP Vegas transport protocols under AODV and DSR routing protocols. The simulations are conducted under varying conditions of number of TCP connections, number of nodes and mobility.
Regulating Internet Trade in CITES Species
2013
International trade in species that are or may be endangered by collection from the wild is regulated under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of wild fauna and flora (CITES) for 176 member States (Parties). Internet commerce is a relatively new route for such trade. In 2007, the CITES Secretariat asked Parties to collect information on internet wildlife trade and report problems and implemented regulations. The reports indicated it was difficult to even approximate the influence of e-commerce on CITES-listed species (CITES Secretariat 2009). We report a case study in which we quantified international transactions over an internet auction site of CITES-listed cacti …
