CT Angiography at 24 Months Demonstrates Durability of EVAR With the Use of Chimney Grafts for Pararenal Aortic Pathologies

2013

PURPOSE: To present the 24-month radiological follow-up data for patients with pararenal aortic pathologies treated with chimney and periscope grafts during endovascular repair. METHODS: Between January 2008 and December 2011, 124 high-risk patients with complex pararenal aortic pathologies were treated using the chimney technique at 2 European vascular and cardiovascular centers with advanced experience of the described technique. In particular, 50 patients were treated at Site 1 and 74 at Site 2. Forty (32.2%) patients (32 men; mean age 79.2±4.9 years) completed computed tomographic angiography follow-up at 24 months postoperatively. RESULTS: The overall technical success was 100%, and th…

Acute coronary artery closure following intracoronary ultrasound examination

1995

Two patients undergoing intracoronary ultrasound examination were complicated by acute coronary artery closure. One of the complications was thought to be caused by intimal dissection and thrombus formation and the other was thought to be caused by intimal dissection and subsequent embolization. The complications were successfully managed conservatively in both cases. © 1995 Wiley-Liss, Inc.

Transcranial magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound surgery at 1.5T: a technical note.

2019

Magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound is one of the emerging non-invasive technologies offering both image guidance and thermal monitoring. In recent years transcranial application of this technology is starting to impact heavily the neuroscience field. We present here the imaging protocol and the technological methods successfully used with a transcranial magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound system certified for clinical treatments of functional neurological disorders, integrated for the first time with a 1.5T magnetic resonance scanner. Compared to the body radiofrequency coil (the one commonly used with transcranial magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound system integ…

Ultrasound-guided percutaneous treatment of a calcific acromioclavicular joint

2020

RATIONALE Calcific tendinopathy is one of the most frequent causes of nontraumatic shoulder pain. However, intra-articular calcifications appear to be an infrequent condition. We herein report a rare case study of an intra-articular calcification of the acromioclavicular joint. PATIENT CONCERNS A 46-year-old man presented with an acute pain in the anterior superior region of the left shoulder which also radiated to the left cervical region. The man during the physical evaluation also presented severe functional limitation of the shoulder movements in all planes of motion. DIAGNOSES The diagnosis was carried out through a radiographic and an echotomographic examination, highlighting the intr…

Preoperative imaging findings in patients undergoing transcranial magnetic resonance imaging-guided focused ultrasound thalamotomy

2021

AbstractThe prevalence and impact of imaging findings detected during screening procedures in patients undergoing transcranial MR-guided Focused Ultrasound (tcMRgFUS) thalamotomy for functional neurological disorders has not been assessed yet. This study included 90 patients who fully completed clinical and neuroradiological screenings for tcMRgFUS in a single-center. The presence and location of preoperative imaging findings that could impact the treatment were recorded and classified in three different groups according to their relevance for the eligibility and treatment planning. Furthermore, tcMRgFUS treatments were reviewed to evaluate the number of transducer elements turned off after…

Intraosseous monitoring of drilling in lumbar vertebrae by ultrasound: An experimental feasibility study.

2016

The rationale for this project is to evaluate the efficiency of a novel sonographic method for measurements of interosseous distances. The method utilizes a propagating ultrasonic beam through aqueous milieu which is directed as a jet into a drilled tract. We used a plastic model of human L5 vertebra and ex vivo specimen of L5 porcine vertebra and generated 2 mm in diameter tracts in vertebral pedicles. The tracts were created in the "desired" central direction and in the "wrong" medial and lateral directions. The drilled tracts and the residual, up to opposite cortex, distances were measured sonographically and mechanically and compared statistically. We show that "true" mechanical measure…

Encorafenib plus Binimetinib in patients with locally advanced, unresectable or metastatic BRAFV600-mutant melanoma: First data of the multicenter, m…

2021

9555 Background: For the treatment of advanced BRAFV600-mutated melanoma, targeted therapy (BRAF/MEK-inhibition) is a standard of care. Encorafenib + binimetinib (EB) were approved in the EU in Sep 2018 and in Switzerland in Nov 2019, based on positive results from COLUMBUS (NCT01909453), with a median progression-free survival (PFS) of 14.9 mo (4-year PFS: 26%) and overall survival (OS) of 33.6 mo (4-year OS: 39%). As data from controlled trials are based on selected populations, BERINGMELANOMA investigates the use of EB under real-world conditions in a broader population. Methods: BERINGMELANOMA is an ongoing, multi-national, multi-center, prospective, longitudinal, non-interventional st…

MON-445 Long-Term Results of an Ongoing Non-Interventional, Real-World Observational Study of Pasireotide SC in Cushing's Disease

2019

Abstract Background: Clinical trials have shown that subcutaneous (sc) pasireotide effectively decreases urinary free cortisol (UFC), improves signs/symptoms and has a favorable safety profile in patients with Cushing’s disease (CD). We describe interim long-term safety and efficacy results of an ongoing multicenter observational study of pasireotide sc in real-world clinical practice for CD (NCT02310269). Methods: This study aims to enroll 100-200 adults with CD for whom surgery has failed or is not an option. Eligible patients could have started pasireotide before (prior use) or at (new use) study entry. Primary endpoint: incidence of pasireotide-related adverse events (AEs) and serious A…
