Noncooperative dynamic games for inventory applications: A consensus approach

2008

We focus on a finite horizon noncooperative dynamic game where the stage cost of a single player associated to a decision is a monotonically nonincreasing function of the total number of players making the same decision. For the single-stage version of the game, we characterize Nash equilibria and derive a consensus protocol that makes the players converge to the unique Pareto optimal Nash equilibrium. Such an equilibrium guarantees the interests of the players and is also social optimal in the set of Nash equilibria. For the multi-stage version of the game, we present an algorithm that converges to Nash equilibria, unfortunately not necessarily Pareto optimal. The algorithm returns a seque…

The HEXACO–100 Across 16 Languages

2020

The HEXACO Personality Inventory–Revised (HEXACO–PI–R) has become one of the most heavily applied measurement tools for the assessment of basic personality traits. Correspondingly, the inventory has been translated to many languages for use in cross-cultural research. However, formal tests examining whether the different language versions of the HEXACO–PI–R provide equivalent measures of the 6 personality dimensions are missing. We provide a large-scale test of measurement invariance of the 100-item version of the HEXACO–PI–R across 16 languages spoken in European and Asian countries (N = 30,484). Multigroup exploratory structural equation modeling and confirmatory factor analyses revealed …

About ten years ago the Linguistic Atlas of Sicily (ALS) adopted the dictionary-atlas tool. When the rich onomastic universe began to be investigated its use was also evaluated on three different oral corpora: one relating to the popular forms of the toponymic heritage (DAToS Dictionary-toponymic atlas of Sicily) one concerning the plural inventory of ethnic nicknames (DASES Dictionary-atlas of ethnic nicknames in Sicily) the latest afferent to the popular individual and family anthroponomastic heritage (DASS Dictionary-atlas of the nicknames of / in Sicily). The contribution provides the state of the art of the three projects and describes their methods objectives and dissemination tools.Settore L-FIL-LET/12 - Linguistica Italiana

Somatic Symptoms among Children and Adolescents in Poland: A Confirmatory Factor Analytic Study of the Children Somatization Inventory.

2013

The aim of the present study was to examine the factor structure and psychometric properties of the short version of the Children’s Somatization Inventory (CSI-24) in Poland. The CSI-24 is a self-report questionnaire designed to assess somatic symptoms in children and adolescents. A total of 733 children and adolescents, aged 12 to 17 years, participated in this research. The participants for this study were recruited from urban and suburban schools of Opole province in South Western Poland. In addition to the CSI-24, all participants completed the Spence Children’s Anxiety Scale (SCAS) and the Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). The bifactor model that included the three domain-…

A confirmatory factor analytic validation of the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory

2015

Abstract Objective Because the postulated three-factor structure of the internationally widely used Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) has not been confirmed yet by a confirmatory factor analytic approach this was the central aim of the current study. Methods From a clinical setting, N  = 373 patients with chronic tinnitus completed the THI and further questionnaires assessing tinnitus-related and psychological variables. In order to analyze the psychometric properties of the THI, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and correlational analyses were conducted. Results CFA provided a statistically significant support for a better fit of the data to the hypothesized three-factor structure ( RMSEA…

Physical activity and ability to meet different work requirements among adult working men with or without current depressive symptoms

2021

Abstract Purpose To examine the relationship between leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) and ability to meet different work requirements among adult working men with or without current depressive symptoms. Methods We measured LTPA with the long version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). The Work Ability Index (WAI) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were used to assess the work ability and depression of 921 Finnish employed male volunteers. Participants were divided into three groups according to the WAI for their work requirements: mental (MENT), physical (PHYS), and an equal amount of mental and physical work (BTH). Results When adjusted for age, BMI and emplo…

Changes in stress perception and coping during adolescence: the role of situational and personal factors.

2009

The present study investigated the interplay between developmental changes in stress and coping during early and late adolescence. Using a longitudinal design, stress perception and coping styles of 200 adolescents in 7 different stressful situations were investigated. Multilevel piecewise latent growth curve models showed that stress perception decreased during late adolescence, whereas active and internal coping increased continuously from ages 12 to 19. Adolescents’ high levels of perceived stress in a particular situation were associated with a high level of active coping but a low level of internal coping in that same situation. Withdrawal was associated with high levels of perceived s…

Masennusoireiden ja terveyspalvelujen käytön välinen yhteys : FIN-D2D-väestötutkimus

2017

Masennus on kansainvälisesti yksi merkittävimmistä toimintakykyä heikentävistä sairauksista. Masennusoireet lisäävät merkittävästi riskiä sairastua masennukseen. Ainoastaan vähemmistön masennuksesta kärsivistä on todettu hakevan apua sairauteen ja hoitoa haetaan sitä todennäköisemmin, mitä vaikeampi ja pitkäkestoisempi masennustila on, ja mitä suurempi siihen liittyvä koettu toimintakyvyn heikkeneminen on. Tämän poikkileikkaustutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää masennusoireiden yhteyttä terveyspalvelujen käyttöön. Lisäksi haluttiin selvittää, mitä terveyspalveluita käyttö kuormittaa ja mitkä taustatekijät ovat yhteydessä terveyspalvelujen käyttöön. Kolmen eri sairaanhoitopiirin alueilta…

Short Form of the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory-2

2020

Abstract. The purpose of the present study was to develop a short form of the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory-2 (STAXI-2) based on the German STAXI-2. Item selection was performed based on exploratory factor analyses (EFA) using descriptive statistical parameters and content-related considerations on calibration samples ( N1 = 215, N2 = 310). The factorial structure of the final extracted scales was validated via confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) ( N3 = 216, N4 = 310). Overall, results present an economic and reliable questionnaire with a total length of 24 items: State Anger short scales Feeling Angry, Verbal Anger Impulse, and Physical Anger Impulse (3 items each), that can be ag…

Cultural Differences in Personality and Aggressive Behavior in Intimate Partner Violence Offenders

2014

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a ubiquitous and serious problem, the prevalence of which varies greatly around the world. Previous research shows that cultural factors interact with personality and that this interaction influences cognitions, attitudes, and behaviors that are related to personal and individual styles of resolving conflicts. In relation to this, the present study has three aims: comparing the self-reported IPV (physical, psychological and sexual) of English and Spanish offenders, comparing the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory III (MCMI-III) scores of the two groups, and examining the association between country of origin, psychopathology, and IPV. The sample consist…
