The analgesic-antiinflammatory extract fromAraujia sericifera lacks ulcerogenic activity on stress-gastric damage model

The present study evaluates the ulcerogenic activity of the hexane extract from dry fruits of Araujia sericifera in an experimental model of cold-restraint stress. Treatment of rats with 200 mg/kg (i.p.) of hexane extract did not affect the gastric lesions induced by cold-restraint stress. However, it was confirmed that a dose of 300 mg/kg (i.p.) of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) which induced a similar analgesic-antiinflammatory effect, increased significantly the level of gastric damage. Thus, the hexane extract from the fruits of A. sericifera seems to possess analgesic-antiinflammatory properties which are not linked to gastrolesive effects.

In social species, fitness consequences are associated with both individual and social phenotypes. Social selection analysis has quantified the contribution of conspecific social traits to individual fitness. There has been no attempt, however, to apply a social selection approach to quantify the fitness implications of heterospecific social phenotypes. Wall roughness produces a downward shift of the mean streamwise velocity profile in the log region, known as the roughness function. The dependence of the roughness function on the height and arrangement of roughness elements has been confirmed in several studies where regular rough walls were analysed; less attention has been paid to non-regular rough walls. International audience; The swimrun is a new endurance team-sport based on two persons swimming and running alternatively through open water and mostly trails. The aim of this study was to analyse participation and performance trends for males, females and mixed duo team at the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun race (10 km open-water swimming and 65 km trail running).
