L'attenzione sarà, in particolare, focalizzata sui problemi relativi all'acquisizione delle variazioni intonative dell'italiano e, dunque, de…

Pedagogical translation, subtitles and ICTs: collaborative projects in L2classroom

2017

[EN] With this paper we offer a contribution to the debate on the importance of translation for learning a second language in the classroom. We exemplify its use as a didactic resource and as a learning tool. We show the methodological bases for a proposal consisting of three collaborative translation projects. This projects were carried out in higher education, namely in a Catalan as a Foreign Language (CLE) classroom at the Université de Picardie Jules Verne (France) in face-to-face and virtual scenarios. These practices are grouped into three different didactic sequences that deal with a given discursive genre –a music video, a commercial and a recipe– and that are realized as a teamwork.

Introduction: On the Complex Ecology of Language Learning ‘in the Wild’

2019

This introduction explicates the central issues informing the chapters in the volume. We outline the epistemological development of Second Language Acquisition research as it has evolved from being predominantly individual-cognitive to a more pluralistic endeavor in which social approaches to cognition and learning are becoming central. Social interaction has been recognized as key to language learning since the 1970’s but the field is still lacking in research that studies the everyday social-interactional ecology in which the L2 speaker acts. We argue that it is time to broaden contexts for empirical investigations to study language learning in the full ecology of ‘the wild’, that is, in …

Method: The author of the study employed quantitative research. Data was collected from anxiety questionnaires completed by the students and from achievement sheets filled in by the English teacher based on five-minute speeches performed by adolescent and adult students.

Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää, tarjoavatko yläkoulun 7. luokan oppimateriaalien kielioppitehtävät oppilaille mahdollisuuden uusien sanojen oppimiseen tai omaksumiseen sisällyttämällä kielioppitehtäviin oppilaille entuudestaan tuntemattomia sanoja, vai onko kielioppitehtävien sanasto oppilaille entuudestaan tuttua. Jälkimmäisessä tapauksessa opeteltavan kielioppiasian tärkeys korostuu ja sanaston ja kieliopin erottaminen toisistaan oppimateriaalissa on selvästi nähtävissä. Aikaisemmat tutkimukset ovat osoittaneet sanastonosaamisen olevan ensiarvoisen tärkeää vieraan kielen hallitsemisessa ja painottaneet oppimateriaalien tärkeyttä sanastonoppimisessa. Lisäksi on havaittu, että useat…
