From canon to chaos management : blogging as a learning tool in a modern Finnish literature course

This article is based on the teaching experiment implemented in summer 2013 in a modern Finnish literature course organised by the Centre for International Mobility (CIMO) and the University of Jyväskylä Language Centre. In order to break away from the traditional conception of literature and text, students’ independent blogging was chosen as the final course assignment instead of a traditional final project. Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää, kuinka viittomakielisten nuorten aikuisten kaksikielisyyttä on heidän lapsuudessaan ja nuoruudessaan tuettu (vai onko tuettu lainkaan?) ja minkälaisia vaikutuksia tällä on heidän multimodaalisen kaksikielisyyden käsitykseen tutkimushetkellä. Tarkoituksena oli tarkastella aihetta kielen käytön sekä kulttuuriin identifioitumisen näkökulmasta. Tässä luvussa teen kielen oppimisen näkökulmasta hieman tarkemman katsauksen lasten ja nuorten oppitaipaleeseen päiväkodista peruskoulun päättövaiheeseen. Keskiössä ovat maahanmuuttajataustaiset lapset ja erityisesti suomen kielen kehittyminen, mutta on syytä muistaa, että - parhaimmillaan - näissä instituutioissa myös suomenkieliset juuriltaan suomalaiset kylpevät sekä kulttuureissa että kielissä. This case study investigates the role of agency in the development of two students’ expertise during their participation in the year-long KOO-KIT program (Language Technology for Language Teachers) for pre-service language teachers at the Centre for Applied Language Studies of the University of Jyväskylä in the 2000s. Using Automatic Morphological Tools to Process Data from a Learner Corpus of Hungarian

The aim of this article is to show how automatic morphological tools originally used to analyze native speaker data can be applied to process data from a learner corpus of Hungarian. We collected written data from 35 students majoring in Hungarian studies at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. The data were analyzed by magyarlanc, a sentence splitter, morphological analyzer, POS-tagger and dependency parser, which found 667 unknown word forms. We investigated the recommendations made by the Hungarian spellchecker hunspell for these unknown words and the correct forms were manually chosen.
