Added Value of Multiparametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging to Clinical Nomograms for Predicting Adverse Pathology in Prostate Cancer

2018

PURPOSE: We examined the additional value of preoperative prostate multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging and transrectal ultrasound/multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging fusion guided targeted biopsy when performed in combination with clinical nomograms to predict adverse pathology at radical prostatectomy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We identified all patients who underwent 3 Tesla multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging prior to fusion biopsy and radical prostatectomy. The Partin and the MSKCC (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center) preradical prostatectomy nomograms were applied to estimate the probability of organ confined disease, extraprostatic extension, seminal vesicle inva…

Serological identification of HSP105 as a novel non-Hodgkin lymphoma therapeutic target.

2011

Abstract We reported that the clinical efficacy of dendritic cell–based vaccination is strongly associated with immunologic responses in relapsed B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL) patients. We have now investigated whether postvaccination antibodies from responders recognize novel shared NHL-restricted antigens. Immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry showed that they cross-react with allogeneic B-NHLs at significantly higher levels than their matched prevaccination samples or nonresponders' antibodies. Western blot analysis of DOHH-2 lymphoma proteome revealed a sharp band migrating at approximately 100 to 110 kDa only with postvaccine repertoires from responders. Mass spectrometry ident…

In situ transcriptional profile of a germinal center plasmablastic burst hints at MYD88/CD79B mutants-enriched Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphomas

2021

AbstractThe germinal center (GC) reaction results in the selection of B-cells acquiring effector Ig secreting ability by progressing towards plasmablastic differentiation. This transition is associated with exclusion from the GC microenvironment. The aberrant expansion of plasmablastic elements within the GC fringes configures an atypical condition, the biological characteristics of which have not been defined yet. We investigated the in situ immunophenotypical and transcriptional characteristics of a non-clonal germinotropic expansion of plasmablastic elements (GEx) occurring in the tonsil of a young patient. Compared to neighboring GC and peri-follicular regions, the GEx showed a distinct…

Moments and Laws of Large Numbers

2020

The most important characteristic quantities of random variables are the median, expectation and variance. For large n, the expectation describes the typical approximate value of the arithmetic mean (X 1+…+X n )/n of independent and identically distributed random variables (law of large numbers).

Safety and Clinical Activity of the Anti-CD22 Immunoconjugate Inotuzumab Ozogamicin (CMC-544) in Combination with Rituximab in Follicular Lymphoma or…

2008

Abstract Inotuzumab ozogamicin (CMC-544) is an antibody-targeted chemotherapy agent composed of a humanized CD22 antibody, conjugated to calicheamicin, a potent cytotoxic antitumor agent. Inotuzumab ozogamicin targets B-cell malignancies since they often express CD22. In a previously reported phase 1 dose-escalation trial in patients with CD22-positive B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL), the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) was determined to be 1.8 mg/m2 every 4 weeks. Responses were seen in patients with both follicular lymphoma (FL) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). This ongoing study consisted of a limited dose escalation (DE) portion to confirm the MTD of inotuzumab ozogamicin whe…

A SIMPLE PARTICLE MODEL FOR A SYSTEM OF COUPLED EQUATIONS WITH ABSORBING COLLISION TERM

2011

We study a particle model for a simple system of partial differential equations describing, in dimension $d\geq 2$, a two component mixture where light particles move in a medium of absorbing, fixed obstacles; the system consists in a transport and a reaction equation coupled through pure absorption collision terms. We consider a particle system where the obstacles, of radius $\var$, become inactive at a rate related to the number of light particles travelling in their range of influence at a given time and the light particles are instantaneously absorbed at the first time they meet the physical boundary of an obstacle; elements belonging to the same species do not interact among themselves…

Prospects for quarkonium studies at the high-luminosity LHC

2020

Prospects for quarkonium-production studies accessible during the upcoming high-luminosity phases of the CERN Large Hadron Collider operation after 2021 are reviewed. Current experimental and theoretical open issues in the field are assessed together with the potential for future studies in quarkonium-related physics. This will be possible through the exploitation of the huge data samples to be collected in proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions, both in the collider and fixed-target modes. Such investigations include, among others, those of: (i) J/psi and Upsilon produced in association with other hard particles; (ii) chi(c,b) and eta(c,b) down to small transverse mom…

T Cell Large Granular Lymphocytic Leukemia in Association with Sjögren’s Syndrome

2009

T cell large granular lymphocytic (LGL) leukemia is a rare condition accounting for 2–3% of all mature lymphoid leukemias. Here, we present the case of a 73-year-old woman presenting with neutropenia and anemia (hemoglobin 9.9 g/dl). Hematological assessment revealed the presence of a T cell LGL leukemia. At the time of T cell LGL leukemia diagnosis, the patient developed xerophthalmia and xerostomia, and a diagnosis of Sjögren’s syndrome was made following salivary gland biopsy. The finding of large granular lymphocytes in the context of autoimmune disorders is well-known, though it often occurs with rheumatoid arthritis or in association with a positive autoantibody titer in the absence o…

Search for First Harmonic Modulation in the Right Ascension Distribution of Cosmic Rays Detected at the Pierre Auger Observatory

2011

We present the results of searches for dipolar-type anisotropies in different energy ranges above 2.5 × 1017 eV with the surface detector array of the Pierre Auger Observatory, reporting on both the phase and the amplitude measurements of the first harmonic modulation in the right-ascension distribution. Upper limits on the amplitudes are obtained, which provide the most stringent bounds at present, being below 2% at 99% C.L. for EeV energies. We also compare our results to those of previous experiments as well as with some theoretical expectations.
