Maladaptive stress coping: An additional psychological factor in the process of chronification of pain or pruritus

2021

Background: Inflammatory skin diseases with chronic pruritus and chronic back pain are very common symptoms in the general population and are associated with a reduced quality of life (QOL). In addition to biological factors, psychosocial reasons are also considered to be responsible for their development. So far, it is not known whether chronic pruritus and chronic back pain are related to maladaptive stress coping. Patients and methods: In our matched pilot case-control study with a total of 259 analyzed subjects, we compared outpatient groups, one suffering from chronic skin diseases with pruritus, the other with chronic back pain, to a healthy control group in terms of their stress copi…

Loneliness in adult people: its relationships with stress, health and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis functioning

2022

Biopsychosocial approach to caregiving burden: Why should we care about caregivers’ health?

2018

There are 11 million family caregivers in France and some estimates indicate that there will be 17 million in 2020.Caregiving is a source of chronic stress that requires adaptation and coping strategies.Caregiving may benefit the health of a caregiver with a positive coping style and altruistic goals. However, the caregiver's burden is frequently associated with negative effects in terms of biopsychosocial imbalance and medical conditions, with frequent anxiety and depression. The management of the caregiving burden starts with the recognition of health professionals – caregivers may benefit from consultation-liaison psychiatry and multidisciplinary medico-social strategies, in addition to co…

Advances in the endoscopic management of malignant biliary obstruction

2020

Biliary obstruction is common in pancreatobiliary malignancies and has a negative impact on the patient’s quality of life, postoperative complications, and survival rates. Particularly in the last decade, there has been enormous progress regarding the diagnostic and therapeutic options in patients with malignant biliary obstruction. Endoscopy has given a new insight in this direction and novel techniques have been developed for the better characterization and treatment of malignant strictures. We herein summarize the available data on the different endoscopic techniques, and clarify their role in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant biliary obstructive disease. Finally, we propose an al…

Compared Binding Properties between Resveratrol and Other Polyphenols to Plasmatic Albumin: Consequences for the Health Protecting Effect of Dietary …

2014

International audience; Phytophenols are considered to have beneficial effects towards human physiology. They are food microcomponents with potent chemopreventive properties towards the most three frequent contemporary human diseases, e.g., cardiovascular alterations, cancer and neurodegenerative pathologies. Related to this, the plasmatic form and plasmatic level of plant polyphenols in the body circulation are crucial for their efficiency. Thus, determinations of the binding process of resveratrol and of common flavonoids produced by major edible plants, berries and fruits to plasma proteins are essential. The interactions between resveratrol and albumin, a major plasma protein, were comp…

2017

Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin Jyväskylän yliopiston toisen ja neljännen vuosikurssin opiskelijoiden kokemaa stressiä ja opiskelukuormituksesta palautumista. Tutkimus on osa Jyväskylän yliopiston Student Life -rahoitteista Onko hoppu? (opiskelijoiden Hyvinvointi, Opiskelusta Palautuminen ja Urahallintataidot) -opiskelijatutkimusta.
