Differences in health status, health behaviour and healthcare utilisation between Immigrant and native homeless people in Spain: An exploratory study

Few studies have examined the differences between immigrant and native-born homeless populations. Our aim was to conduct an exploratory study to examine the differences in health status, health behaviour and healthcare utilisation in a sample of Spanish immigrant and native homeless people. Study was conducted in eight different temporary accommodations in the Valencia region in August 2018. Overall, 86 participants were included in the analysis who answered questionnaires concerning socio-demographic characteristics, immigration status, health status and behaviour, healthcare utilisation and experienced discrimination in healthcare and health literacy. Knowledge and attitudes of parents after the implementation of mandatory vaccination in kindergartens of Palermo, Italy.

Background and aim of the work: Even though vaccination is easy to access in Europe, it has been facing several outbreaks caused by vaccine preventable diseases. Trying to balance the right to health of the community with individual self-determination, in Italy was mandate vaccination for ten vaccine preventable diseases in 2017. The United Nations (UN) emphasizes that health promotion, education, and empowerment of women are all goals that will help to end poverty. In eastern rural Tanzania, young women who dropped out of school now take an active part in health promotion campaigns in schools and villages through the youth program “Innovative and Productive Youth”, which is administered by the nongovernmental organization Hatua na Maendeleo (HAMA). Health literacy and its relation to continuing with breastfeeding at six months post-partum in a sample of Spanish women

Aim To explore the relation between health literacy (HL) and continuing breastfeeding (BF) at 6 months post-partum. Design Observational, longitudinal and prospective study between December 2018–May 2019. The STROBE checklist was used. Methods 114 mother/baby pairings from a Spanish Hospital were included. Mothers’ health literacy was studied with the Newest Vital Sign and Short Assessment of Health Literacy for Spanish Adults 50 (SAHLSA-50).
