2002
This contribution explains the main lines of OREF interventions on the local dimension of the training and employment problematics from ten years of experiences in Burgundy. From four local analyses, the authors underline the development of problematics, regional institutional demand, analytic processes carried out, response to set objectives, for the realization of each study.

Decentralization is in itself a complex process that must be planned…
Governing Local Area Development through Dynamic Performance Management
2017
Several attempts of local areas development fail due to a predominant attention to the internal performance of public organizations. The perspective of local area development may enhance performance management in public entities by considering: a) their outcomes in the local area; b) the inter-institutional relationships actable with other local areas’ organizations to achieve such outcome; c) the improvement of the activity of other social institutions, enterprises and families, through networking and trust. This paper proposes a dynamic performance management (DPM) conceptual model to govern local area development and includes a case study of the Integrated Water System of Agrigento, Ital…
Managing adoption by cultural development: Exploring the plant level effect of a ‘Company Specific Production System’ (XPS) in a Norwegian multinatio…
2020
Purpose: ‘Company Specific Production Systems’ (XPS) aim to adopt ‘best practice’ across plants within a company. A pertinent issue in the literature involves the constraints in the possibilities of realising such an adoption. This paper addresses to what extent and how a Norwegian multinational succeeded in adopting the XPS in its local plants. Design/methodology/approach: A Brazilian, Chinese and Norwegian plant of a Norwegian electro-chemical company were studied from 2017 to 2019. Our data consist of the results of the plant’s assessment performance program, combined with interviews and observations at different organizational levels. Findings: The MNC had largely managed to adopt the X…
Local spectral theory for Drazin invertible operators
2016
Abstract In this paper we investigate the transmission of some local spectral properties from a bounded linear operator R, as SVEP, Dunford property (C), and property (β), to its Drazin inverse S, when this does exist.
Calcium negatively regulates meprin β activity and attenuates substrate cleavage
2015
The meprin β metalloproteinase is an important enzyme in extracellular matrix turnover, inflammation, and neurodegeneration in humans and mice. Previous studies showed a diminished cleavage of certain meprin β substrates in the presence of calcium, although the mechanism was not clear. With the help of a specific fluorogenic peptide assay and the human amyloid precursor protein as substrate, we demonstrated that the influence of calcium is most likely a direct effect on human meprin β itself. Analyzing the crystal structures of pro- and mature meprin β helped to identify a cluster of negatively charged amino acids forming a potential calcium binding site. Mutation of 2 of these residues (D2…
Secretory Pathway Research: The More Experimental Systems the Better
2012
Transient gene expression, in plant protoplasts or specific plant tissues, is a key technique in plant molecular cell biology, aimed at exploring gene products and their modifications to examine functional subdomains, their interactions with other biomolecules, and their subcellular localization. Here, we highlight some of the major advantages and potential pitfalls of the most commonly used transient gene expression models and illustrate how ectopic expression and the use of dominant mutants can provide insights into protein function.
