Haukiemon (Esox lucius L.) koon vaikutus mädin ja poikasten laatuun

Hauki on erittäin yleinen kala Suomessa ja tärkeä saaliskala kalastajille. Haukipopulaatioissa tavataan suurta kokovaihtelua emokalojen välillä, ja mm. kalastuksensäätelyn näkökulmasta olisi hyödyllistä tuntea erikokoisten emojen merkitys populaatioiden lisääntymiskyvylle. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin emohaukien koon vaikutusta mädin ja poikasten laatuun. Tarkoitusta varten pyydystettiin yhteensä 26 emo- ja 12 koirashaukea kolmesta pienestä eteläsuomalaisesta metsäjärvestä. Naaraat olivat 22,3-94,5 cm:n ja koiraat 40,0-45,0 cm:n pituisia. Darbā noteikta un salīdzināta G. lucidum 9621 lakāzes un peroksidāžu aktivitāte četru dažādu piedevu šķidrajās barotnēs – ½ MEB(+ Mn2+; + 2% Lg; + 2% Lg + Mn2+). Veikta kvantitatīva ligninolītisko enzīmu aktivitātes noteikšana, izmantojot spektrofotometrijas metodes. Darbā tika salīdzināta dažādu glabāšanas apstākļu (+4˚C, -20˚C un liofilizācijas) ietekme uz G. lucidum 9621 ligninolītisko enzīmu aktivitāti un inkubācijas beigās noteikta sēņu micēlija biomasa. Larval life history, transmission strategies, and the evolution of intermediate host exploitation by complex life-cycle parasites

Complex life-cycle parasites use their intermediate hosts both as an energy source and as a vessel for transmission to the next host in the life cycle. Parasites that grow rapidly to a large size may have high fitness (e.g. time spent in uninfective stages is limited), yet those that grow too aggressively may reduce host viability and their own probability of successful transmission. I examined aspects of both the growth and transmission strategy of an acanthocephalan (Acanthocephalus lucii) in its isopod intermediate host. The evolutionary ecology of multi-host parasites is predicted to depend upon patterns of host quality and the dynamics of transmission networks. Depending upon the differences in host quality and transmission asymmetries, as well as the balance between intra- and inter-specific transmission, the evolution of specialist or generalist strategies is predicted. Fructus Ligustri Lucidi (FLL) has been widely used as a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for treating soreness and weakness of waist and knees. It has potential for treating OA owing to its kidney-tonifying activity with bone-strengthening effects, but there is so far no report of its anti-OA effect. Recent findings: The expression of a functional sweet taste receptor has been reported in numerous extragustatory tissues, including the gut, pancreas, bladder, brain and, more recently, bone and adipose tissues.
