Pathobiology of Hodgkin Lymphoma

2010

Despite its well-known histological and clinical features, Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) has recently been the object of intense research activity, leading to a better understanding of its phenotype, molecular characteristics, histogenesis, and possible mechanisms of lymphomagenesis. There is complete consensus on the B-cell derivation of the tumor in most cases, and on the relevance of Epstein-Barr virus infection and defective cytokinesis in at least a proportion of patients. The REAL/WHO classification recognizes a basic distinction between lymphocyte predominance HL (LP-HL) and classic HL (cHL), reflecting the differences in clinical presentation and behavior, morphology, phenotype, and molec…

Niemann-Pick Type C-2 Disease: Identification by Analysis of Plasma Cholestane-3β,5α,6β-Triol and Further Insight into the Clinical Phenotype.

2014

Niemann-Pick type C disease is a rare disorder caused by impaired intracellular lipid transport due to mutations in either the NPC1 or the NPC2 gene. Ninety-five % of NPC patients show mutations in the NPC1 gene. A much smaller number of patients suffer from NPC2 disease and present respiratory failure as one of the most frequent symptoms. Several plasma oxysterols are highly elevated in NPC1 and can be used as a biomarker in the diagnosis of NPC1.Plasma cholestane-3β,5α,6β-triol was evaluated as biomarker for NPC2 by GC/MS and LC-MS/MS analysis. The diagnosis was confirmed by Sanger sequencing and filipin staining. We report three NPC2 patients with typical respiratory problems and a detail…

THU0260 IL-25 Axis Is Activated and Associated with An ILC2 and M2 Inflammatory State in Patients with Primary Sjogren's Syndrome

2016

Background Type 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2) and M2 polarized macrophages are activated and produce cytokines in response to IL-25/IL-17RB, although the relevance of this axis to immune responses in primary Sjoren9s syndrome (pSS) is unknown. Objectives We sought to investigate the role of the IL-25/IL-17RB axis and ILC2 and M2 macrophages in patients with pSS. Methods Expression analysis of IL-17B, IL-25, IL-33 and IL-17RB was performed by TaqMan real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry on salivary glands from 50 patients and 20 controls. Analysis of IL-17RB expression and the frequencies of natural type 2 innate lymphoid cells (nILC2), inflammatory ILC2 (iILC2), and M2-polarized macrophag…

OP0081 Tissue Deficiency of The Atypical Chemokine Receptor D6 Is Associated with The Selective Increase of Gut-Derived Pro-Inflammatory CXCR1HIGHLY6…

2016

Background Gut derived innate lymphoid cells of type 3 (ILC)3 are increased in number in the circulation and inflamed tissues of AS patients. Factors influencing the maintainace of ILC3 in an activated status are not clear. The atypical chemokine receptor D6 is a decoy and scavenger receptor for most inflammatory CC chemokines and acts preventing exacerbated inflammatory reactions. Mice lacking D6 expression in the non-hematopoietic compartment display a significant increase of pro-inflammatory monocytes in the peripheral blood and in secondary lymphoid tissues. The role of D6 in human inflammatory disorders has not been inverstigated. Objectives To evaluate whether modulation of D6 express…

Das Chlorom (Granulozytäres Sarkom, Myeloblastom) - Klinik und radiologische Diagnostik -

2000

Six cases of granulocytic sarcoma are presented. A mediastinal chloroma and a tumor of the submandibular gland were observed with two patients as single sign of acute myeloic leukaemia. In one patient a chloroma appeared as first manifestation of acute myeloic leukaemia. Two patients exhibited the tumor as first symptom of a blastic crisis of chronic myelogenous leukaemia (femoral bone, lumbar spine). The sixth patient with a myelodyplastic syndrom showed a chloroma of the breast. Various radiological procedures were applied including plain radiography, MRT, CT and mammography. The results are compared with literature. Principles of therapy were supplemented.

Re: ?Splenic marginal zone B-cell lymphoma associated with primary Sjgren?s syndrome?

2003

We describe a 67-year-old woman with primary Sjögren's syndrome who developed a splenic marginal zone B-cell lymphoma, and complained of a dry mouth and Raynaud's phenomenon. She had splenomegaly, swollen lymph nodes and monoclonal IgM-kappa cryoglobulin. After splenectomy, Raynaud's phenomenon had improved with the decrease of cryoglobulin. This is the first case of primary Sjögren's syndrome with splenic marginal zone B-cell lymphoma to be reported.

Increased Lymphangiogenesis and Lymphangiogenic Growth Factor Expression in Perivascular Adipose Tissue of Patients with Coronary Artery Disease

2019

Experimental and human autopsy studies have associated adventitial lymphangiogenesis with atherosclerosis. An analysis of perivascular lymphangiogenesis in patients with coronary artery disease is lacking. Here, we examined lymphangiogenesis and its potential regulators in perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT) surrounding the heart (C-PVAT) and compared it with PVAT of the internal mammary artery (IMA-PVAT). Forty-six patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery were included. Perioperatively collected C-PVAT and IMA-PVAT were analyzed using histology, immunohistochemistry, real time PCR, and PVAT-conditioned medium using cytokine arrays. C-PVAT exhibited increased PECAM-1 (platele…
