Comparison of growth & function of endothelial progenitor cells cultured on deproteinized bovine bone modified with covalently bound fibronectin …

2016

Objectives The objective of this study was to assess and compare the growth and function of Endothelial Progenitor Cells (EPCs) cultured on covalently bonded Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) and covalently bonded Fibronectin (FN) coating on deproteinized bovine bone (DBB) (test samples), compared to non-modified DBB blocks (control sample). Materials and methods The test samples were prepared by plasma polymerization of allylamine onto DBB blocks. Group1 of test samples were prepared with VEGF coating (VEGF-DBB) where as the Group2 test samples were coated with FN (FN-DBB). Non-modified DBB blocks served as a Control. EPCs were isolated and cultivated from buffy coats of peripheral…

Quantitative Bestimmung der Hirnperfusion mit Hilfe der digitalen Subtraktionsangiographie (DSA)

1990

In a search for a reliable and relatively non-invasive method for quantifying cerebral perfusion, we examined the possible role of DSA. By using special software, it is possible to demonstrate vascular morphology and obtain functional data concerning blood flow. Regions of interest are used for obtaining time-density curves and these are evaluated by a formula designed by Meier and Zierler. Perfusion through the arterial territory in both cerebral hemispheres was correlated with the clinical symptoms of the patients and with the morphological findings. Difficulties and problems are described and discussed.

Secretary of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (SENESCYT)(CZ02-000507-2019) The evaluation of the male fertility potential is based on the analysis of the basic spermatic characteristics of concentration, motility and morphology. Thus, the study of sperm morphology is a fundamental element in the seminal analysis, but its real meaning has been biased by the techniques used for its evaluation. These techniques involve dehydration phases and subsequen…

Does clinical findings correlate with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings in patients with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain? A cross sectiona…

2019

Background Although magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) helps to clearly visualize the disorders in temporomandibular joint (TMJ), the relationship between cross-sectional and clinical findings has not been precisely established. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between clinical symptoms and MRI findings in individuals with TMJ pain. Material and Methods This cross-sectional study, conducted on the clinical and MRI findings of the patients, who applied to Uşak University, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic with TMJ pain between the years 2016-2019. The primary predictor variables were MRI findings; disc position (normal, disc displacement with reduction (DDWR), disc di…

Effects of vegetation at different succession stages on soil properties and water flow in sandy soil

2015

The effects of vegetation at different succession stages on soil properties and water flow were assessed in sandy soil at 3 experimental sites near Sekule village (southwest Slovakia). Site S1 was a pioneer site dominated by mosses, site S2 was an early successional stage with a thin stand of grasses, and site S3 was an early successional stage (more advanced compared to the previous), richer in species, with a denser stand of grasses. It was found that vegetation at different succession stages affected soil properties and water flow in sandy soil, but the order of changes in some soil properties and water penetration depths were different from the order of succession stages.

Needle-shape quality control by shadowgraphic image processing

2011

International audience; We propose a needle-shape quality-control method. To this end, we have devised a new acquisition system that combines a camera and a backlight. Needle measurements are carried out at a micrometric scale using shadowgraphic image processing. Our method not only distinguishes good needles from bad ones, but also allows classifying flawed needles into various categories of defects. This classification is important because some categories of defects can affect the entire production, whereas others do not. The results of our needle-shape quality-control method are validated using real samples directly off the manufacturing line. Needles are correctly classified at >97%, a…
