[Optimization of systemic treatments for chronic plaque psoriasis. Recommendations for switching and transitioning.]
2014
The aim of this study was to provide practical recommendations for optimizing the use of conventional and biological systemic treatments for moderate-severe chronic plaque psoriasis, particularly in case of transitioning and switching.A total number of 147 dermatologists from 33 different countries including Italy achieved consensus in providing practical recommendations for the use of conventional and biological treatments for moderate to severe psoriasis based on systematic literature review and/or expert opinion. In general, the continuous treatment regimen should be preferred in order to achieve a complete and long-term control of psoriasis. However, the treatment could be stopped or the…
Uncertainty analysis and symmetry restoration in nuclear self-consistent methods
2015
This thesis contains two articles, in the following denoted by I and II, and an introduction to them. In Chapter 1, I present the theoretical models of nuclear structure. In Chapter 2, I introduce the basic ideas about the density functional theory (DFT) and self-consistent mean-field (SCMF) calculations. In Chapter 3, I give the formulae for the uncertainty propagation, which is the error analysis method used in article I. As a proper tool to survey the predictive power of theoretical models, the error analysis now has become more and more widely used. By analyzing the propagation of uncertainties, one tries to find out the e ectiveness of the calculation with a given parameter set obtaine…
Pathophysiology of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
2021
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a complex disorder characterized by total or partial collapse of the upper airways (UA) during sleep, causing obstructive apneas or hypopneas, respectively. During respiratory events, respiratory efforts occur against the restricted or collapsed upper airway, hypoxia and hypercapnia develop, and sympathetic activation increases. The main symptoms of OSA are intermittent snoring and excessive daytime sleepiness. OSA is often associated with obesity, hypertension, and increased cardiovascular risk. Pathophysiological aspects include: anatomical and physiological determinants of UA closure, and immediate and long-term consequences of chronic intermittent hypoxi…
Gingivitis
2014
Gingival inflammation is caused by bacterial plaque (dental biofilm) that accumulates daily on the teeth. Results in redness, slight swelling, or "puffiness" of the gums and bleeding on tooth brushing. Treatment involves thorough professional tooth cleaning and effective daily removal of dental plaque by tooth brushing and cleaning between the teeth. Necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis (NUG) is a more serious condition that is mainly found in developing countries associated with people with severe malnutrition or HIV/AIDS with low CD4 T-cell counts.
A Network-Based Framework for Mobile Threat Detection
2018
Mobile malware attacks increased three folds in the past few years and continued to expand with the growing number of mobile users. Adversary uses a variety of evasion techniques to avoid detection by traditional systems, which increase the diversity of malicious applications. Thus, there is a need for an intelligent system that copes with this issue. This paper proposes a machine learning (ML) based framework to counter rapid evolution of mobile threats. This model is based on flow-based features, that will work on the network side. This model is designed with adversarial input in mind. The model uses 40 timebased network flow features, extracted from the real-time traffic of malicious and…

Terremoti e ricostruzioni tra XVII e XVIII secolo
2012
