Path Integral Method for Nonlinear Systems Under Levy White Noise

In this paper, the probabilistic response of nonlinear systems driven by alpha-stable Lévy white noises is considered. The path integral solution is adopted for determining the evolution of the probability density function of nonlinear oscillators. Specifically, based on the properties of alpha-stable random variables and processes, the path integral solution is extended to deal with Lévy white noises input with any value of the stability index alpha. It is shown that at the limit when the time increments tend to zero, the Einstein–Smoluchowsky equation, governing the evolution of the response probability density function, is fully restored. Direct evaluation of jumps for nonlinear systems under external and multiplicative impulses

In this paper the problem of the response evaluation of nonlinear systems under multiplicative impulsive input is treated. Such systems exhibit a jump at each impulse occurrence, whose value cannot be predicted through the classical differential calculus. In this context here the correct jump evaluation of nonlinear systems is obtained in closed form for two general classes of nonlinear multiplicative functions. Analysis has been performed to show the different typical behaviors of the response, which in some cases could diverge or converge to zero instantaneously, depending on the amplitude of the Dirac's delta.

Advanced Astronomy for Heliophysics Plus (ADAHELI+) is a project concept for a small solar and space weather mission with a budget compatible with an European Space Agency (ESA) S-class mission, including launch, and a fast development cycle. ADAHELI+ was submitted to the European Space Agency by a European-wide consortium of solar physics research institutes in response to the "Call for a small mission opportunity for a launch in 2017," of March 9, 2012. Stochastic response of a fractional vibroimpact system

Abstract The paper proposes a method to investigate the stochastic dynamics of a vibroimpact single-degree-of-freedom fractional system under a Gaussian white noise input. Towards farm-level health management of offshore wind farms for maintenance improvements

This paper studies a conceptual architecture for health management of offshore wind farms. To this aim, various necessary enablers of a health management sys- tem are presented to improve reliability and availability while optimizing maintenance costs. The main focus lies on improving existing condition monitoring systems based on concepts of condition-based maintenance and relia- bility centered maintenance. A brief review of the rel- evant state-of-the-art is presented and gaps to be filled towards realization of such health management system are discussed.

Application of minidisk infiltrometer to estimate water repellency in Mediterranean pine forest soils

Assessment of soil water repellency (SWR) was conducted in the decomposed organic floor layer (duff) and in the mineral soil layer of two Mediterranean pine forests, one in Italy and the other in Spain, by the widely-used water drop penetration time (WDPT) test and alternative indices derived from infiltration experiments carried out by the minidisk infiltrometer (MDI). The paper presents the results of study into the air parameters in open space offices. As office workers spend about 1/3 of the day in such spaces, it is important to provide them with the right climate comfort, and that is determined, most importantly, by: the temperature and humidity of the air, quality of the air, and the concentration of CO2. Two objects of study were selected - both of them open space facilities, each with a different intensity of use. Abstract In this paper, the probability density evolution of Markov processes is analyzed for a class of barrier problems specified in terms of certain boundary conditions. The standard case of computing the probability density of the response is associated with natural boundary conditions, and the first passage problem is associated with absorbing boundaries.
