Mutual Information Analysis of Brain-Body Interactions during different Levels of Mental stress

In this work, we analyze brain-heart interactions during different mental states computing mutual information (MI) between the dynamic activity of different physiological systems. In 18 healthy subjects monitored in a relaxed resting state and during a mental arithmetic and a serious game task, multichannel EEG, one lead ECG, respiration and blood volume pulse were collected via wireless non-invasive biosensors. BACKGROUND The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of the different breast cancer subtypes on the tumor (18)F-FDG uptake at baseline and on its changes after the first course of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). PATIENTS AND METHODS One hundred and fifteen women with newly diagnosed, large or locally advanced breast cancer undergoing NAC were included. 3D segmentation of abdominal aorta from CT-scan and MR images

International audience; We designed a generic method for segmenting the aneurismal sac of an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) both from multi-slice MR and CT-scan examinations. It is a semi-automatic method requiring little human intervention and based on graph cut theory to segment the lumen interface and the aortic wall of AAAs. Our segmentation method works independently on MRI and CT-scan volumes and has been tested on a 44 patient dataset and 10 synthetic images. Imaging of calcified hepatic lesions: spectrum of diseases

Hepatic calcifications have been increasingly identified over the past decade due to the widespread use of high-resolution Computed Tomography (CT) imaging. Calcifications can be seen in a vast spectrum of common and uncommon diseases, from benign to malignant, including cystic lesions, solid neoplastic masses, and inflammatory focal lesions. The purpose of this paper is to present an updated review of CT imaging findings of a wide range of calcified hepatic focal lesions, which can help radiologists to narrow the differential diagnosis.

Octacalcium phosphate (OCP) {Ca8H2(PO4)6×5H2O] has attracted increasing attention over the last decade as a transient intermediate to the biogenic apatite for bone engineering and in studies involving the processes of pathological calcification. FPGA implementation of a deep learning algorithm for real-time signal reconstruction in particle detectors under high pile-up conditions

The analog signals generated in the read-out electronics of particle detectors are shaped prior to the digitization in order to improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR). The real amplitude of the analog signal is then obtained using digital filters, which provides information about the energy deposited in the detector. The classical digital filters have a good performance in ideal situations with Gaussian electronic noise and no pulse shape distortion. The effects of the macrocyclic lactone bryostatin-1 on leukemic cells in vitro.

The macrocyclic lactone bryostatin-1 was found to exert in vitro antineoplastic activity against several leukemic cell lines, including human K562 erythroleukemia, HL60 promyelocytic leukemia, REH and MOLT-4 lymphoblastic leukemias, CCRFCEM lymphoma, KG-1 myeloid leukemia, and murine P388 lymphocytic leukemia. No statistically significant difference in sensitivity to bryostatin-1 was found between adriamycin-resistant P388 and K526 subclones and their sensitive counterparts. Freshly explanted clonogenic leukemic cells showed a variable sensitivity to bryostatin-1 in 10/12 tested samples.
