Digital holographic microscopy with pure-optical spherical phase compensation

Telecentric architecture is proposed for circumventing, by the pure-optical method, the residual parabolic phase distortion inherent to standard configuration of digital holographic microscopy. This optical circumvention produces several important advantages. One is that there is no need for computer compensation of the parabolic phase during the phase map recovering procedure. The other is that in off-axis configuration, the spatial frequency useful domain is enlarged. The validity of the method is demonstrated by performing quantitative measurement of depth differences with high axial resolution. (C) 2011 Optical Society of America

Recent studies have shown that virus-like particles can be obtained by expression of the capsid proteins using vaccinia virus recombinants or the baculovirus system. Core–shell (CS) CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QD) capped with ligands that possess a mercapto or an amino group and a naphthalimide (NI) as chromophore unit, linked by a short ethylene chain (CS@S–NI and CS@H2N–NI, respectively), have been synthesized and fully characterized by infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopies, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and voltammetry as well as by steady-state absorption and emission spectroscopies. Abstract Microparticulate films of a canthin-6-one alkaloid ( L ), a natural β-carboline alkaloid presenting a characteristic naphtyridone motif, on glassy carbon electrodes yield different, separate voltammetric signals for dsDNA, ssDNA, G-quadruplex DNA, different degrees of DNA methylation and the biomimetic nucleosomal DNA with detection limit of 10 −5 M.
