Ramification of lithic production and the search of small tools in Iberian Peninsula Middle Paleolithic
2015
The notion of recycling and it relationship with ramified productions and small tool production in Late Middle Paleolithic from the Iberian Peninsula are investigated. Results from Amalda, Axlor, Pen~a Miel, and Quebrada show that the production of small tools is one of the principal objectives of lithic provi- sioning in these sites. Whereas in Axlor and Amalda, this is achieved through the ramification of pro- duction, due to the remoteness of flint sources, in Quebrada, where raw material sources are closer, small flakes are obtained at the end of Levallois production. The implications for Neandertal society organi- zation of this small tool production is discussed, and its evolution is …
CD3 immunohistochemistry is helpful in the diagnosis of giant cell arteritis.
2018
Objective. To evaluate whether CD3 staining performed routinely on temporal artery biopsy specimens might improve the sensitivity of temporal artery biopsy in patients with biopsy-negative GCA. Methods. Two hundred and seventy biopsies were considered for this study, stained with haematoxylin and eosin and with an anti-CD3 antibody. Results. The addition of CD3 staining modified the sensibility and the specificity of the histologic examination in 89.47 and 95.00%, respectively, with a positive and negative predictive values of 97.00 and 79.78%. Conclusion. The addition of CD3 immunostaining to the classic histologic evaluation is accompanied by a significant increase in the sensibility with…
Angiopoietin-2 plasma dosage predicts time to first treatment and overall survival in chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
2010
Abstract The clinical relevance of angiopoietin-2 (Ang2) in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) was previously suggested by the association between high Ang2, and shorter progression-free survival reported in small series of patients. Here, we evaluated Ang2 glycoprotein levels in plasma samples collected from a multicentric cohort of CLL patients (n = 316) using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method, and we investigated its prognostic role in relation to time to first treatment (TTFT) and overall survival. Based on a cutoff equal to 2459 pg/mL, we divided our cohort in 2 subsets (high and low Ang2) composing 100 (31.6%) and 216 (68.4%) patients, respectively. High Ang2 was predictive …
Modeling cost-effectiveness and health gains of a âuniversalâ versus âprioritizedâ hepatitis C virus treatment policy in a real-life cohort
2017
We evaluated the cost-effectiveness of two alternative direct-acting antiviral (DAA) treatment policies in a real-life cohort of hepatitis C virusâinfected patients: policy 1, âuniversal,â treat all patients, regardless of fibrosis stage; policy 2, treat only âprioritizedâ patients, delay treatment of the remaining patients until reaching stage F3. A liver disease progression Markov model, which used a lifetime horizon and health care system perspective, was applied to the PITER cohort (representative of Italian hepatitis C virusâinfected patients in care). Specifically, 8,125 patients naive to DAA treatment, without clinical, sociodemographic, or insurance restrictions, were us…

“Liulishuo” lietotne angļu valodas mutvārdu saziņas pilnveidē (Ķīnā)
2020
Informāciju komunikāciju tehnoloģiju izmantošana valodu apguvē sekmē skolēnu aktīvu iesaistīšanu mācīšanās procesā,veido bagātīgu mācīšanās pieredzi un vidi.Tās piedāvā jaunas iespējas skolēniem un skolotājiem pilnveidot dažādus svešvalodu apguves aspektus. Šis maģistra darbs pēta Liulishuo lietotnes izmantošanu mutiskās saziņas angļu valodas apguvē vidusskolas jaunākajā vecumā.. Izveidojot Liulishuo lietotnes atbalstīto modeli un integrējot to ar mācīšanas un mācīšanās piemēriem, tajā tiek pētīts jauns veids, kā vecināt mutvārdu saziņas angļu valodas attīstību vidusskolas jaunāko klašu skolēniem. Autore problēmas risināšanai izmanto zinātniskās literatūras analīzi, darbības pētījumu, inter…
B lymphocyte intestinal homing in inflammatory bowel disease.
2011
Abstract Background Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is thought to be due to an abnormal interaction between the host immune system and commensal microflora. Within the intestinal immune system, B cells produce physiologically natural antibodies but pathologically atypical anti-neutrophil antibodies (xANCAs) are frequently observed in patients with IBD. The objective is to investigate the localisation of immunoglobulin-producing cells (IPCs) in samples of inflamed intestinal tissue taken from patients with IBD, and their possible relationship with clinical features. Methods The IPCs in small intestinal, colonic and rectal biopsy specimens of patients with IBD were analysed by means of immun…
Les anotacions marginals al «De amore» català
2007
A new, philological edition of the marginal notes in Andreas Capellanus’ «DeAmore’s» medieval Catalan translation, uniquely preserved in Real Biblioteca de Madrid’s manuscript II-3096 (I), accompanied by transcriptions of the sentence or paragraph which each note refers to. These notes are thematically classified in four groups and described so as to outline their medieval annotator’s main interests.
Might as well jump: Sound affects muscle activation in skateboarding
2014
The aim of the study is to reveal the role of sound in action anticipation and performance, and to test whether the level of precision in action planning and execution is related to the level of sensorimotor skills and experience that listeners possess about a specific action. Individuals ranging from 18 to 75 years of age - some of them without any skills in skateboarding and others experts in this sport - were compared in their ability to anticipate and simulate a skateboarding jump by listening to the sound it produces. Only skaters were able to modulate the forces underfoot and to apply muscle synergies that closely resembled the ones that a skater would use if actually jumping on a ska…
