Comparative analysis of muon-capture and 0νββ-decay matrix elements
2020
Average matrix elements of ordinary muon capture (OMC) to the intermediate nuclei of neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decays of current experimental interest are computed and compared with the corresponding energy and multipole decompositions of 0νββ-decay nuclear matrix elements (NMEs). The present OMC computations are performed using the Morita-Fujii formalism by extending the original formalism beyond the leading order. The 0νββ NMEs include the appropriate short-range correlations, nuclear form factors, and higher-order nucleonic weak currents. The nuclear wave functions are obtained in extended no-core single-particle model spaces using the spherical version of the proton-neutron quasip…
Lo zerosei di fronte all’emergenza COVID. Esperienze, ricerche e riflessioni pedagogiche
2022
2019
Personality and emotional factors may be contributing to the emergence of somatic complaints. The purpose of this study was to analyse the combined contribution of emotional awareness, moods and personality to somatic complaints in children and adults. Method: Participants were 1,476 children (M= 9.90 years, SD= 1.27, 52.10% girls) and 940 adults (M= 32.30 years, SD= 11.62, 64% women) who were administered self-reports. Analysis was performed using fuzzy qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA), an analytical technique that enables in-depth analysis of how a series of causal conditions contribute to a given outcome. Results: Emotional awareness, moods and personality account for 59% of high…
Theoretical review of emotional intelligence: models and measuring instruments
2013
Abstract This theoretical review of emotional intelligence (EI) starts from the earliest conceptualizations made by Galton, Binet, Stemberg Thurstone and Thordinke Gardner, who, during their historical period, were successful in laying the basis for the birth of emotional intelligence as a theoretical construction which was introduced for the first time, in scientific literature, in 90’s. Since then, different EI models have been developed and investigative contributions have been increased. In this article, the most representative EI models will be described with details, such as: 1) Mental ability model (Ability Based) developed by Mayer and Salovey 2) Model of emotional competences by Go…
ENAZIONE, MODELLI MENTALI E POLITICA LINGUISTICA FASCISTA E FRANCHISTA
2021
The main objective of the article is to analyze, thanks to the application of the enactive approach and that of the mental models of van Dijk, the way in which the fascist and franquist linguistic policy was articulated through the analysis of some significant articles present in the bilingual magazine «Legioni e Falan- gi. Rivista d’Italia e di Spagna/Legiones y Falanges. Revista mensual de Italia y de España». In fact, this magazine is one of the many examples of public expression of a regime’s will to control, exercised through the use of a firm and full of ideology language used to establish control in order to influence the reader’s behaviors. The final considerations reached in the ar…
Human interleukin-6 facilitates hepatitis B virus infection in vitro and in vivo.
2000
Abstract Background and aim. Research on hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in vivo has been limited due to the absence of a suitable animal model. We have developed a human–mouse radiation chimera in which normal mice, preconditioned by lethal total body irradiation and radioprotected with SCID mouse bone marrow cells, are permissive for engraftment of human hematopoietic cells and solid tissues. This resulting human–mouse model, which comprises three genetically disparate sources of tissue, is therefore termed Trimera. This study was aimed at assessing the effect of human IL-6 on HBV infection in vivo in Trimera mice. Methods. Trimera mice were transplanted with human liver tissue fragment…
Localization and interactions of melatonin in dry cholesterol/lecithin mixed reversed micelles used as cell membrane models
2005
The state of melatonin confined in dry cholesterol/lecithin mixed reversed micelles dispersed in CCl4 was investigated using 1H-NMR and FT-IR spectroscopies as a function of the melatonin to lecithin molar ratio (R(MLT)) and of the cholesterol to lecithin molar ratio (R(CHL)). An analysis of experimental results leads to the hypothesis that, independent of R(MLT) and as a consequence of anisotropic melatonin/lecithin, melatonin/cholesterol and cholesterol/lecithin interactions, melatonin is totally solubilized in reversed micelles. Melatonin is mainly located in and oriented in the nanodomain constituted by the hydrophilic groups of cholesterol and lecithin. A competition of melatonin and c…
Review article: a comparison of glucagon-like peptides 1 and 2.
2013
Summary Background Recent advancements in understanding the roles and functions of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) and 2 (GLP-2) have provided a basis for targeting these peptides in therapeutic strategies. Aim To summarise the preclinical and clinical research supporting the discovery of new therapeutic molecules targeting GLP-1 and GLP-2. Methods This review is based on a comprehensive PubMed search, representing literature published during the past 30 years related to GLP-1 and GLP-2. Results Although produced and secreted together primarily from L cells of the intestine in response to ingestion of nutrients, GLP-1 and GLP-2 exhibit distinctive biological functions that are governed by t…
Cardiac changes in subclinical and overt hyperthyroid women: retrospective study
2003
This retrospective and descriptive 4-year study was undertaken to describe cardiac changes in subclinical and overt hyperthyroidism. We revised the charts of 386 consecutive cardiopathic women whose blood samples were referred to the Radioimmunoassay Laboratory to evaluate thyroid function from 1 January 1997 through 31 December 2000.After excluding women because euthyroid or hypothyroid, or taking amiodarone and women with hypertension, rheumatic disease, myocardial infarction, a total of 31 hyperthyroid women were thus selected for the study: 19 with subclinical hyperthyroidism and 12 with overt hyperthyroidism. The prevalence of atrial fibrillation did not differ between subclinical (48%)…
Transgenic overexpression of corticotropin releasing hormone provides partial protection against neurodegeneration in an in vivo model of acute excit…
2008
Abstract Corticotropin releasing hormone (CRH) is the central modulator of the mammalian hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis. In addition, CRH affects other processes in the brain including learning, memory, and synaptic plasticity. Moreover, CRH has been shown to play a role in nerve cell survival under apoptotic conditions and to serve as an endogenous neuroprotectant in vitro . Employing mice overexpressing murine CRH in the CNS, we observed a differential response of CRH-overexpressing mice (CRH-COE hom -Nes) to acute excitotoxic stress induced by kainate compared with controls (CRH-COE con -Nes). Interestingly, CRH-overexpression reduced the duration of epileptic seizures and pre…
