A conventional color imaging system provides high resolution spatial information and low resolution spectral data. In contrast, a multispectral imaging system is able to provide both the spectral and spatial information of a scene in high resolution. A multispectral imaging system is complex and it is not easy to use it as a hand held device for acquisition of data in uncontrolled conditions. Clinical evaluation of melanomas and common nevi by spectral imaging

A clinical trial on multi-spectral imaging of malignant and non-malignant skin pathologies comprising 17 melanomas and 65 pigmented common nevi was performed. Optical density data of skin pathologies were obtained in the spectral range 450-950 nm using the multispectral camera Nuance EX. An image parameter and maps capable of distinguishing melanoma from pigmented nevi were proposed. The diagnostic criterion is based on skin optical density differences at three fixed wavelengths: 540nm, 650nm and 950nm. The sensitivity and specificity of this method were estimated to be 94% and 89%, respectively. The proposed methodology and potential clinical applications are discussed.

Remote detection and monitoring of the vegetation responses to stress became relevant for sustainable agriculture. Ongoing developments in optical remote sensing technologies have provided tools to increase our understanding of stress-related physiological processes. The use of methods of image analysis has allowed us to make more reliable and reproducible results obtained by immunohistochemistry (IHC). Wider use and simplification of software allowing a colorimetric study has meant that these methods are available to everyone and made it possible to standardize the technique by reliable systems score. Moreover, the introduction in recent years of multispectral image acquisition systems methods has further refined these techniques allowing to avoid artifacts and release the evaluation of the data by the observer.

Energy balance in single exposure multispectral sensors

International audience; Recent simulations of multispectral sensors are based on a simple Gaussian model, which includes filters transmittance and substrate absorption. In this paper we want to make the distinction between these two layers. We discuss the balance of energy by channel in multispectral solid state sensors and propose an updated simple Gaussian model to simulate multispectral sensors. Results are based on simulation of typical sensor configurations.

Multispectral images-based background subtraction using Codebook and deep learning approaches

This dissertation aims to investigate the multispectral images in moving objects detection via background subtraction, both with classical and deep learning-based methods. As an efficient and representative classical algorithm for background subtraction, the traditional Codebook has first been extended to multispectral case. Multispectral imaging systems are widely used in remote sensing and applied to viticulture context for the canopy characterization.
