An exploratory study to investigate emotion elicited by immersive ambiances
2011
Food behaviour is modulated by the eating situation and environment. In a previous study, we investigated drink choices according to the ambiance by developing an immersive approach based on the concept of “having a drink in a bar”. Two bars (Modern vs. Traditional ambiance) were settled with a few piece of furniture (counter, tables and bar stools) made in raw wood for the Traditional bar and in blue retro-lighted translucent plastic for the Modern bar. A video-clip was projected on one wall: Red moving shapes associated to a “far west” music in the Traditional bar, and Blue moving bubbles associated to an “electro” music in the Modern bar. In each bar, 100 participants were asked which be…

Droplet digital PCR as a tool for investigating dynamics of cryptic symbionts
2021
Abstract Interactions among symbiotic organisms and their hosts are major drivers of ecological and evolutionary processes. Monitoring the infection patterns among natural populations and identifying factors affecting these interactions are critical for understanding symbiont–host relationships. However, many of these interactions remain understudied since the knowledge about the symbiont species is lacking, which hinders the development of appropriate tools. In this study, we developed a digital droplet PCR (ddPCR) assay based on apicomplexan COX1 gene to detect an undescribed agamococcidian symbiont. We show that the method gives precise and reproducible results and enables detecting cryp…

Effect of gases on biochemical stabilization
2019
International audience; Lipid or protein are sensitive to peroxidation and inert gas limit or stop adulterations. Unsaturated lipids are peroxided by ground state dioxygen in presence of catalysts (iron, enzymes) or after thermal dissociation of C=C bond, and by excited state dioxygen without any assistance (photo-oxidation). Inerting fragile oils by bubbling with dinitrogen or carbon dioxide that are soluble gas in oil slows oxidation process during storage or frying. In a same way, limit the oxidation of the tryptophan residues of protein is possible by reducing oxygen content. Oxidation leads also to oxidation of thiol in disulfide, which induced protein cross-linked and decay of functio…

Loss of rod sensitivity and gene expression changes in the retina of fructose-fed insulin-resistant mice
2012
Purpose: Metabolic syndrome is of major concern in Western countries since it predisposes individuals to the development of diabetes. Insulin resistance is one of the biochemical features of the metabolic syndrome. Fructose feeding has been used to elicit insulin resistance in rodents. Our purpose was to characterize the functional and gene expression changes in the retina after long term feeding mice with a fructose-enriched diet. Methods: Control and ApoB100,LDLR-/- mice, a murine model of aging of the human retina, were fed with a 60%-rich fructose diet for 8 months. Scotopic single flash and Flicker electroretinograms were recorded to monitor the response of the retina to flash stimuli. …
Crystallization and preliminary crystallographic analysis of the major capsid proteins VP16 and VP17 of bacteriophage P23-77.
2012
The major capsid proteins VP16 and VP17 of bacteriophage P23-77 have been crystallized using both recombinant and purified virus and preliminary diffraction analyses have been performed.
Study of awareness of food labeling among consumers in North-West Russia
2020
A survey among the consumers of North-Western region of Russia (St. Petersburg and Leningradskaya oblast) was carried out, to determine awareness and understanding of food labeling, as well as usefulness of various elements of food labeling.
