Photoactive Hybrid Materials based on Conjugated Porous Polymers and Inorganic Nanoparticles
2021
This review explores the current state‐of‐the‐art for functional photoactive hybrids containing inorganic nanoparticles (magnetic and metal) and conjugated organic porous polymers (CPPs). Albeit new in the field, with the first hybrid material of this kind reported in 2012, those materials have gained increasing interest in applications such as sensing, heterogeneous catalysis, photocatalysis, and lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs). This review describes the two main synthetic strategies for those materials, namely, 1) using the chemical and morphological features (e.g., porosity and complexation sites) of CPPs to in situ form nanoparticles and 2) fabricating the nanoparticle for templating CPPs.…

Biomolecules, and particularly proteins, bind on nanoparticle (NP) surfaces to form the so-called protein corona. It is accepted that the corona drives the biological distribution and toxicity of NPs. Here, the corona composition and structure were studied using silica nanoparticles (SiNPs) of different sizes interacting with soluble yeast protein extracts. Adsorption isotherms showed that the amount of adsorbed proteins varied greatly upon NP size with large NPs having more adsorbed proteins per surface unit. The protein corona composition was studied using a large-scale label-free proteomic approach, combined with statistical and regression analyses. Most of the proteins adsorbed on the N…
Core‐shell nanoparticles with hyperbranched poly(arylene‐oxindole) interiors
2009
Cucurbit[n]uril-capped upconversion nanoparticles as highly emissive scaffolds for energy acceptors.
2015
Spontaneous adsorption of cucurbit[n]uril CB[n] (n = 6, 7, and 8) on the surface of naked upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs), in particular, NaYF4:Er3+(2%),Yb3+(18%) gave rise to UCNP@CB[n] exclusion complexes. These complexes proved to be highly stable as well as highly emissive under near-infrared excitation. By using two tricyclic basic dyes (specifically, methylene blue and pyronin Y) as a proof of concept, we demonstrate that the UCNP@CB[n] (n = 6, 7) nanohybrids can form exclusion complexes with this type of dyes via the CB carbonyl free portal, i.e., UCNP@CB@dye hybrids, thus making it possible to locate a high concentration of the dyes close to the UCNP and, consequently, leading to…

Polyethylene glycol-tagged macrocycle (I) is prepared by a three-fold copper-catalyzed [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction.
Palladium–Polypyrrole Nanoparticles-Catalyzed Sonogashira Coupling
2012
Abstract Palladium nanoparticles were encapsulated into polypyrrole globules via one-step one-pot redox reaction between tetraamminepal- ladium(ii) dichloride and pyrrole in water. Such a material is an active catalyst for the Sonogashira coupling of iodo- and bromo- arenes.

Structural investigation on nanostructured SiliaCat Pd0 palladium catalyst sheds light into the origins of the remarkable activity of these new catalytic materials.
Templating effect of carbon nanoforms on highly cross-linked imidazolium network: Catalytic activity of the resulting hybrids with Pd nanoparticles
2019
Two different carbon nanoforms (CNFs), namely multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and carbon nanohorns (CNHs), have been chosen as support for the direct polymerization of a bis-vinylimidazolium salt. Transmission electron microscopy analyses revealed a templating effect of the CNFs on the growth of the polymeric network, which perfectly covers their whole surfaces creating a cylindrical or spherical coating for MWCNTs and CNHs, respectively. Subsequently, the CNFs-polyimidazolium have been used as stabilizers for Pd nanoparticles (Pd NPs), and the obtained materials have been characterized by means of analytical and spectroscopic techniques and then employed as easily recoverable and re…
(2010). Microstructure and magnetic properties of colloidal cobalt nano-clusters.
2010
The magnetic response of nanometer sized Co nanoparticles (NP) prepared using reverse micelle solutions are presented. The use of complementary structural and morphological probes (like transmission electron microscopy, high resolution electron microscopy, X-ray absorption spectroscopy) allowed to relate the magnetic properties to the size, morphology, composition and atomic structure of the nanoparticles. All data agree on the presence of a core–shell structure of NPs made of a metallic Co core surrounded by a thin Co-oxide layer. The core–shell microstructure of NPs affects its magnetic response mainly raising the anisotropy constant.
