It is difficult to trace full details of the path which irregular or illegal immigrants follow when seeking assistance in the network of the various hospital departments and health structures. The aim of this work was to analyze the health needs of immigrant people by reviewing the types of treatment given to them in the day-hospital of our Department of Migration Medicine. Our study analyzed day-hospital admissions between 2003 and 2009. The patient charts used for managing day-hospital activity were adopted in 2002 in conformity with the "OSI project". Physiotherapists' accounts of their clients in geriatric inpatient rehabilitation.

This article aims to describe how physiotherapists working with frail older people talk about their clients. Semi-structured qualitative interviews with physiotherapists (n = 11) were audio recorded, transcribed and analysed using discourse analysis. Two accounts were identified: (i) older adults as recipients of a treatment intervention at the rehabilitation centre, with the dimensions 'a focus on physical impairments' and 'a focus on social needs' and (ii) older adults as partners in an exercise intervention to support their everyday living at home. Abstract Background: Epidermal malformations of the skin include a group of heterogeneous developmental defects that result from errors in morphogenesis of the epidermis during intrauterine life. Objective: The purpose of this study was to report the clinical and histopathologic features of a distinctive epidermal malformation involving the skin of the palms or soles. Background Paragangliomas of the head and neck are rare, mostly benign tumors. Approximately 10% to 15% of paragangliomas are caused by mutations in the succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) genes B, C, or D. These are often multifocal as part of paraganglioma syndromes and hormone secreting, and malignant particularly associated with mutations in SDHB. Methods and Results A 29-year-old man was seen with recurrent paraganglioma. The patient's father reportedly suffered from bilateral carotid body tumors. With the advent of a minimally invasive laparoscopy technique, the advantages of diagnostic laparoscopy are being rediscovered. We report here on four patients with systemic disease of unknown origin and splenomegaly, in whom minilaparoscopy-guided splenic biopsy yielded a definitive diagnosis. Four patients with unclear systemic disease were studied using diagnostic minilaparoscopy and guided spleen biopsy, after failure of diagnostic work-up. Minilaparoscopic spleen biopsy revealed the diagnosis of a B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in two cases. Flow cytometric DNA analysis of hepatic tumours on ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspirates

A study was performed on a nonconsecutive series of 51 patients in order to assess the feasibility, reliability, and usefulness of flow cytometric (FCM) DNA analysis of samples obtained from benign and malignant hepatic tumours by means of ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (UG-FNA). Cytological and often histological confirmation of the nature of the lesion was obtained in all cases from an expert pathologist. For FCM DNA analysis in 32 cases, it was also possible to use samples obtained at surgery from the actual tumours. There were no post UG-FNA complications, either early or late. The Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction and Frustration Scale (BPNSFS) is a self-report instrument assessing the satisfaction and frustration of the three basic psychological needs of autonomy, competence, and relatedness defined by self-determination theory. The aim of this study was to examine the dimensionality, the predictive validity, and the measurement invariance across different age groups of the Italian version of the BPNSFS. The participants were 2,204 Italian adolescents and young adults (41% males) from 14 to 28 years old (M age = 20.23, SD = 4.25).
